Production Engineer

BASF Pharma Callanish Ltd based on the Isle of Lewis, in the Western Isles of Scotland, and is a global leader manufacturing highly-concentrated omega-3 fatty acids, for pharmaceutical, clinical nutrition and general nutrition applications.

As Production Engineer you will be responsible for supporting the production department in the manufacture of product through the completion of projects, improvements to the production process and coordination of activities to meet customer requirements.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT

• Take lead role with Production projects by coordinating activities, internal teams and contractors as required. Developing new and existing procedures to support improvement projects.
• Identify process improvement opportunities to improve process efficiency and reduce product cost and waste.
• Support implementation of Kaizen and 5S initiatives, supporting shift teams to implement process improvements.
• Provide technical support and expertise across the production department
• Support training delivery and coordination across the production department
• Support the management of daily plant operations including quality and health and safety tasks.

WHAT YOU OFFER

• Bachelor’s degree (SCQF Level 9) in mechanical, chemical or process engineering
• Minimum 3 years of experience working in a chemical plant (cGMP experience is desirable)
• Experience with the following systems; SCADA, Master Control, Windows, Excel and Word
• Experience in identifying and implementing process improvement opportunities
• High level of initiative and strong problem-solving skills
