We are looking for an Environmental, Health, & Safety (EHS) Specialist to join our Agricultural Solutions team in St Louis, MO.
As an EHS Specialist you will play an integral role in the success of a dynamic multisite chemical FFP facility with a diverse portfolio of small batch pesticide and herbicide products in addition to a quality lab and centralized warehouse. Collaborate across Quality, Production, Logistics, Engineering, Supply Chain teams and other site personnel to develop an impactful and positive safety culture. Maintain site regulatory compliance across local, state and federal agencies while also adhering to BASF internal standards. As a Responsible Care company, effectively manage applicable requirements at an audit ready state of operation.

As a EHS Specialist - St. Louis MO, you create chemistry by...
- Collaborating across site functions and EHS teams to develop and support an EHS culture that improves the safety of day-to-day work activities and reduces risk and injuries.
- Ensuring site license to operate by managing the adherence to local, state and federal EHS regulatory requirements. Conduct site activities and submitting necessary documentation, reporting and/or data entry as needed in time/ recurrence as expected to meet obligations.
- Maintaining audit ready state for regulatory agencies and BASF Responsible Care Management System.
- Overseeing contractor safety and compliance.
- Providing required EHS site support such as incident investigations, MOC, RMP and SDS management.
- Overseeing environmental permitting and waste management.
- Providing the required EHS site support such as incident investigations, hazard communication, risk analysis, environmental management, process safety etc.
- Managing the onsite training program.
If you...
- Have a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology, Engineering, or another related technical discipline, required. A Master's degree in Environmental Health & Safety (EHS), Industrial Hygiene (IH), Occupational Safety (OS), or a related field, is a plus.
- Bring 5 years demonstrated EHS experience in a manufacturing field (such as pharmaceuticals, agriculture, petrochemical, industrial fermentation, etc.), required
- Have previous regulatory agency experience, is a plus
- Hold an industrial hygiene certificate and/or monitoring experience, is a plus
- Have a collaborative “hands on” EHS attitude that enables and sustains a positive, impactful, regulatory compliant culture across plant functions and personnel, required.
- Have experience managing site industrial hygiene, personal protective equipment (PPE), and safety programs, required.
- Demonstrate strong technical, organizational, verbal, and written communication skills, required.
- Have experience implementing and operating the Risk Management Plan (RMP) under EPA’s Process Safety Management, is preferred
- Possess experience with EHS programs such as incident investigation, hazard communication, risk analysis, environmental management, process safety, etc., is preferred.
- Apply knowledge of EHS requirements necessary for hot work, confined space, line break, elevated work, control of hazardous energy and safe work permit, is preferred.
- Bring experience managing an EHS program under Responsible Care Management System (RCMS), is a plus.
- Have experience developing and managing an effective industrial training program across teams and expertise, is a plus.
