Maricopa, AZ (Onsite)

We are looking for a Plant Manager to join our Agricultural Solutions team in Maricopa, AZ.

This position works directly with the Site Manager assisting in the day-to-day operations of the treating, packaging, delinting and debagging plants as well as shipping and receiving in the warehouse. They will perform activities in a variety of cross-functional areas including production planning and control, total quality management, systems, manufacturing, equipment and facilities engineering, material management, and process design and engineering.

As a Seeds Processing Plant Manager, you create chemistry by...

 

  • Overseeing day-to-day operations in the treating, debagging, packaging and de-linting plants.
  • Supporting production, business and other processes in a team-based manufacturing environment. 
  • Troubleshooting equipment issues and coordinating repairs as needed, while overseeing off-season maintenance planning and ensuring effective preventive and predictive maintenance strategies are implemented throughout operational periods to maximize equipment reliability and performance.
  • Facilitating self-directed work teams, providing training in "core skill" areas to teams and peers, and interacting with internal and external customers with respect to product planning, problem resolution and process improvement. 
  • Achieving daily, weekly, and yearly production goals set forth by cotton seed supply while producing a high-quality product within a safe work environment.
  • Communicating daily with direct reports to achieve these goals with adhering to company policies and provide support across departments.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with the Gila River Indian Community (GRIC) and the associated GRIC regulatory agencies. This as a critical component of this role and serves as a key element of BASF's License to Operate within the region.
  • Additionally, championing continuous improvement initiatives focused on EHS, quality, cost optimization, asset utilization, operational excellence, and innovation through the adoption of best practices, emerging technologies, and data-driven decision-making.

If you...

 

  • Have a bachelor’s degree.
  • Bring 7+ years of experience in manufacturing, seed production, ginning and seed conditioning, or relevant farm/mechanical work.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of and adherence to Environmental, Health, Safety, Security, Stewardship, and Quality Management systems, with knowledge of OSHA PSM regulatory requirements preferred.
  • Leverage ERP programs used in manufacturing operations, management systems, and Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Have previous experience leading direct reports using strong organizational, leadership, and managerial skills.
  • Develop employees by setting and reviewing annual objectives, establishing training, managing career and role progression, and enabling high-performing teams.
  • Apply Lean, Six Sigma, or Operational Excellence practices, with certification preferred.
  • Manage costs, inventory, capital projects, and site budget plans.
  • Think critically, strategically, and logically to anticipate and plan for future site needs.
  • Build effective cross-departmental relationships and manage conflict constructively.
  • Are able to travel up to 15%, domestically.
