WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT
The Key Accounts Manager is responsible for managing and growing strategic relationships with key farmers and distributors in Zambia. The role focuses on driving business growth through strong account management, delivering technical and agronomic expertise, and ensuring BASF solutions meet customer needs across crop cycles and market segments.
Duties will include the following:
- Manage and develop relationships with key farmer accounts and distributors
- Support and coordinate account management activities with regional and area teams
- Identify and develop new farming and distributor opportunities
- Segment and prioritize accounts based on needs and growth potential
- Conduct regular field visits to understand customer challenges and provide technical recommendations
- Collaborate with Technical Sales Support to deliver product knowledge, field trials, and resolve customer issues
- Build strong relationships with key decision-makers, including agronomists, consultants, and procurement teams
- Provide accurate forecasts aligned with seasonal demand and customer requirements
- Contribute to product positioning strategies and support their execution in the market
- Support development of technical and marketing materials
- Deliver agronomic guidance during field days, demonstrations, and customer events
- Participate in S&OP and ensure close alignment with internal stakeholders
- Maintain strong partnerships with distributors and regional teams
WHAT YOU OFFER
- Degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, Marketing, or Business Administration
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in the agriculture industry, preferably in crop protection
- Strong knowledge of fungicides, herbicides, and insecticides
- Solid understanding of plant health, crop care, and Zambia’s agricultural market
- Proven experience in key account management and customer relationship building
- Ability to work effectively in a multi-cultural environment
- Proactive, self-driven, and results-oriented mindset
