Position Summary

The Field Officer – Fruits & Vegetables is responsible for supporting BASF's business growth and market development in Cameron Highlands through effective farmer engagement, demand generation, technical support, stewardship implementation, and channel partner collaboration. The role serves as the primary field contact for growers, distributors, dealers, and retailers, ensuring strong customer relationships, effective product positioning, and sustainable adoption of BASF crop protection solutions while delivering valuable market insights to support business growth

 

Job Responsibilities

1. Farmer Engagement & Field Development

• Conduct regular farm visits, AgClinics, and technical consultations with growers.

• Build and maintain strong relationships with key growers and industry stakeholders.

• Provide timely support on crop protection solutions and farming practices.

• Address customer inquiries and identify opportunities to improve grower productivity. 

 

2. Demonstration & Field Trial Management

• Establish, manage, and monitor demonstration plots and field evaluations.

• Collect field observations and performance data to demonstrate product value.

• Document trial results and share recommendations with customers and internal stakeholders.

• Support evaluation of NPL and cultivation practices under local growing conditions. 

 

3. Demand Generation & Product Promotion

• Execute product promotion campaigns and demand generation activities within the territory.

• Organize farmer meetings, product briefings, field days, and grower events.

• Communicate BASF's product value propositions and technical benefits effectively.

• Support product launches and commercialization activities. 

 

4. Technical & Stewardship Support

• Provide technical recommendations on BASF crop protection products and integrated crop management practices.

• Promote responsible product use, safety standards, and stewardship compliance.

• Conduct stewardship training and awareness programs for growers and channel partners.

• Support implementation of BASF stewardship initiatives and sustainability programs. 

 

5. Channel Partner Support

• Collaborate closely with distributors, dealers, and retailers to strengthen market coverage and customer engagement.

• Conduct technical training, product updates, and promotional activities for channel partners.

• Support sales programs and business initiatives to drive product adoption and business growth.

• Assist channel partners in resolving technical and customer-related issues. 

 

6. Market Intelligence & Business Development

• Gather market intelligence on crop trends, competitor activities, pricing movements, customer needs, and emerging opportunities.

• Monitor local market developments and provide regular updates to management. 

 

7. Reporting & Administration

• Develop weekly and monthly activity plans aligned with business objectives.

• Maintain accurate records of farmer visits, demonstrations, stewardship activities, and customer engagements.

• Submit activity reports, market updates, and business information in a timely manner.

• Ensure compliance with BASF policies, procedures, and safety requirements. 

 

Job Requirements

  • Diploma in Business/ Marketing or related course in Agricultural is preferred. 
  • Minimum 1-3 years of experience in agricultural sales, field development, agronomy, or technical support.
  • Experience in the fruits and vegetables industry is an added advantage. 
  • Familiarity with the Cameron Highlands agricultural market is preferred.
  • Able to travel frequently and work independently in field environments. 
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Sound understanding of vegetable and high-value crop production systems.
  • Ability to conduct field demonstrations, technical discussions, and customer training.
  • Good analytical, planning, and reporting skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications. Customer-focused and comfortable working with farmers and channel partners.
  • Basic technical knowledge of crop protection and stewardship practices.
  • High level of integrity, safety awareness and accountability.
