Pasco, WA (Remote, Field-Based)

We are looking for a Trial Technician - Carrot & Onion to join our Agricultural Solutions team for our BASF Nunhems vegetable seed business in Pasco, WA. This is a remote, field-based role in the Pasco, WA area. 

The Trial Technician supports the Product Development (PD) Specialist and Crop Lead in the execution of research-level yield trials aimed at identifying superior-performing seed products. This role is responsible for implementing, maintaining, and collecting high-quality data from trials across all crop stages—from planting and growth monitoring to harvest. The technician contributes to trial planning and execution, ensures completion of crop cycles, and supports data evaluation and reporting.

Additionally, the Trial Technician provides technical support and agronomic insights to local sales teams, coordinates trial logistics including contracts and stakeholder engagement, and presents trial outcomes and competitive market data to internal and external stakeholders. The role plays a key part in shaping regional product strategies through data-driven recommendations.

As a Trial Technician - Carrot & Onion, you create chemistry by...

 

  • Assisting the Product Development Specialist and Crop Lead in executing research-level field trials, following established protocols to evaluate seed product performance and generate reliable results. 
  • Implementing and maintaining field trials throughout the crop cycle, including planting, crop monitoring, and harvesting activities, to ensure successful trial execution and data integrity. 
  • Contributing to the planning and preparation of basic and advanced trials, coordinating resources and timelines to achieve accurate and timely trial establishment. 
  • Monitoring trial progress and communicating status updates, observations, and data quality issues to supervisors and stakeholders, ensuring informed decision-making and timely issue resolution. 
  • Identifying and coordinating suitable growers and trial locations, managing agreements, overseeing site setup, and implementing trial protocols to ensure successful execution from sowing through harvest. 
  • Collecting, recording, and managing high-quality trait and performance data using digital tools and established protocols, ensuring accurate analysis and reporting of trial outcomes. 
  • Serving as a technical reference for BASF Nunhems varieties by providing expert support to internal teams, customers, and external partners, strengthening commercial efforts and customer success. 

If you...

 

  • Have a Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture or a related field, along with at least 3 years of experience in Product Development, Seed Production, or the vegetable seed industry, or 5 years of experience growing annual crops.
  • Bring strong agronomic expertise and hands-on experience with annual crop production, field trial management, and the design, implementation, and evaluation of field experiments.
  • Leverage data collection, analysis, and interpretation skills, combined with proficiency in digital productivity and data collection tools, to support decision-making and product advancement.
  • Demonstrate strong planning, organizational, and problem-solving capabilities, with the ability to manage multiple priorities independently while maintaining a high level of accountability and ownership.
  • Thrive in collaborative environments by building effective relationships, communicating clearly with stakeholders, and applying knowledge of the local agricultural market, customer needs, and industry trends.
  • Bring a customer-focused, results-oriented, and commercial mindset, coupled with the confidence to make recommendations based on technical and agronomic expertise; English proficiency is required and Spanish language skills are a plus.
  • Are able to day travel regularly and up to 5% overnight travel, domestically.

Pay transparency

 

BASF is committed to pay transparency practices. The competitive Pay Range for this role is $70,400 - $96,800. Actual pay will be determined based on education, certifications, experience, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
