Leamington, ON (Remote, Field-Based)
We are looking for a Trial Technician to join our Agricultural Solutions team for our BASF | Nunhems vegetable seed business in Leamington, ON. This role will focus on the High-tech Tomato crop and also support High-tech Cucumber and High-tech Lettuce crops. This is a remote, field-based position in the Leamington, ON area.
The Trial Technician supports the Product Development (PD) Specialist and Crop Lead in the execution of research-level yield trials aimed at identifying superior-performing seed products. This role is responsible for implementing, maintaining, and collecting high-quality data from trials across all crop stages—from planting and growth monitoring to harvest. The technician contributes to trial planning and execution, ensures completion of crop cycles, and supports data evaluation and reporting.
Additionally, the Trial Technician provides technical support and agronomic insights to local sales teams, coordinates trial logistics including contracts and stakeholder engagement, and presents trial outcomes and competitive market data to internal and external stakeholders. The role plays a key part in shaping regional product strategies through data-driven recommendations.

As a Trial Technician - High-tech Tomato, you create chemistry by...
- Assisting the Product Development Specialist and Crop Lead in executing research-level field trials to evaluate seed product performance.
- Implementing and maintaining trials across all crop stages, including planting, growth monitoring, and harvesting.
- Contributing to the planning of both basic and advanced trials, ensuring timely and accurate setup.
- Monitoring trial progress and communicating status updates and data quality issues to supervisors and relevant stakeholders.
- Identifying suitable growers, setting up and coordinating trial sites, managing trial agreements, sowing seeds according to protocol, and overseeing the full crop cycle through to harvest and data collection.
- Collecting, recording, and managing high- trait data Digitally according to protocols.
- Serving as Technical Reference by providing expert support internally and externally to enhance sales efforts and ensure customer success with BASF Nunhems varieties.
If you have...
- A B.Sc. in Agriculture or equivalent education.
- Minimum 3 years’ relevant experience in Product Development or Manufacturing in vegetable seeds or 5 years of experience growing vegetables.
- Strong agronomic expertise, local market knowledge, and hands-on experience designing and executing agricultural trials and experiments.
- Advanced data analysis and interpretation skills, with the ability to solve complex problems and turn insights into actionable recommendations.
- Proven planning, organization, and results-driven execution skills, with a track record of delivering against objectives.
- Confidence to make decisions, take initiative, work autonomously, and demonstrate accountability and ownership.
- A collaborative and customer-focused approach, with strong stakeholder management and cross-functional teamwork skills.
- Experience using digital productivity tools and applying a commercial mindset to support business growth and customer success.
- Are able to day travel regularly and overnight travel up to 5%, domestically and potentially internationally (U.S.).

Pay transparency
BASF is committed to pay transparency practices. The competitive Pay Range for this role is $66,080 - $90,860 CAD. Actual pay will be determined based on education, certifications, experience, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
