Now hiring! ART Accountant

Southfield, MI

We are looking for an ART Accountant to join our team in Southfield, MI.

New finish, Proven expertise. Bolder ambition.

If you're someone who inspires others, owns their impact, and wants to elevate what they do, you'll fit right in.

Until July 1, our business was part of BASF. As part of the current transition, all job listings and the application process are still hosted on the BASF platform and therefore fully presented in BASF branding. Please do not be confused by this: All roles are positions at Surventis, and your application will be submitted to us.

At Surventis, we go beyond the surface - in everything we do. We put customers at the center, think one step ahead, and develop solutions that create real value and lasting partnerships.  We inspire each other to think further, take ownership of our work, and constantly push to elevate what's possible. If you bring your full self, challenge the obvious answer, and want to grow with a team that means it - this is your place.

The ART Accountant is responsible for performing general accounting functions for the Automotive Refinish Coatings companies in US and Canada. Key responsibilities include month-end general ledger closing, financial statement preparation, balance sheet analysis, bank reconciliation, and financial analysis. A high level of autonomy is expected in carrying out the core responsibilities. The position requires a self-starter mindset. This role interacts regularly with ART leadership, warehouse personnel, bodyshopmall.com, and Corporate Functions.

As an ART Accountant, you will...

  • General Accounting & Financial Close
    • Manage all monthly general ledger activities for ART US and ART Canada.
    • Prepare, review, and post journal entries in accordance with company accounting policies and US GAAP requirements.

    • Perform balance sheet account reconciliations and maintain appropriate supporting documentation.
    • Ensure timely and accurate completion of monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities.
    • Support internal and external audit requirements, including preparation of schedules and supporting documentation.

    • Oversee and coordinate Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable processes.
    • Ensure transactions are processed accurately and in compliance with company policies and procedures.
    • Monitor outstanding balances and support issue resolution when required.
  • Inventory & Operational Accounting Support
    • Support inventory reconciliation activities.
    • Assist with physical inventory processes and related financial reporting requirements.
    • Collaborate with warehouse and operational teams to ensure accurate financial treatment of inventory-related transactions.
  • Compliance & Controls
    • Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, company policies, and internal control requirements.
    • Coordinate and support Financial Reporting Compliance (FRC) activities, including mid-year and year-end control testing.
    • Support internal and external audit requests and remediation efforts where necessary.
    • Ensure adherence to local GAAP and all relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Tax & Regulatory Compliance
    • Coordinate and support governmental tax filings, remittances, and reporting requirements.
    • Ensure proper accounting and reporting related to Workers' Compensation programs.
    • Assist with other regulatory and statutory reporting obligations within the United States and Canada.
  • Business Partnership & Support
    • Serve as a key finance contact for ART leadership, BodyShopMall.com, and operational teams.
    • Support financial, operational, and management reporting requests across the organization.
    • Provide financial guidance and analysis for business initiatives and operational inquiries.
    • Assist with corporate compliance initiatives and special projects as assigned.

If you have...
