Project Technology Manager BMR (Base Metals Refinery) (m/f/d)

In addition to its own products, BASF Española S.L. markets more than 5,000 products from the BASF Group: chemical, organic and inorganic products, catalysts; phytosanitary products, plastic materials, dispersions and raw materials for the inks, paints, plastics, paper, ceramics and cosmetics industry.

The Technology Manager is responsible for the process technology, raw material questions, technology related safety and permitting aspects and is the primary contact for R&D.

• Together with the Engineering Manager, lead the project in all technology related aspects.
• Responsible for a complete Process Package
• Lead R&D and global expert community for all project related technological aspects.
• Responsible for technology aspects regarding safety of design, process, operational issues, HAZOP reviews and permitting.
• Monitor deviations from overall time and cost plans and communicate deviations proactively.
• Risk control measures for risks related to technology.
• Cost reduction initiatives.
• Assist in preparing the plant for a successful Start-up.
• Support trouble shooting and assist to resolve problems during commissioning and start-up.

• Masters or PHD degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or similar qualification.
• Ideally background in technologies applicable to battery recycling, especially hydrometallurgical processes for metals recovery and/or production of black mass and/or pyrolysis.
• Fluent in English and ideally, Spanish language.
• Proven ability to work collaboratively with others to get results.
• Highly motivated to work in the battery recycling technology space.
• Desire to work in an Empowerment culture, with associated high degree of autonomy in how to achieve the targets.
• Good communication skills (written and oral).
• Must be comfortable working in production setting.
• Willing and able to travel.
