Located in Hong Kong, BASF’s Asia Pacific headquarters oversees more than 18,000 employees at about 100 production sites and 125 sales offices across the region. In addition to a number of regional business units, the Hong Kong office also houses regional functional units including Corporate Affairs, Finance and Controlling, Human Resources, Management Consulting, Procurement and Supply Chain Services.



Objectives of the Position 
  • Reporting to Vice President, Petrochemicals Asia Pacific, you will develop and implement effective and proactive communication strategy and activities for Petrochemicals unit in Asia Pacific 


Job Responsibilities 
  • Provide Regional business unit Head and leadership team on all communications- related issues and develop communication concept and toolbox for including investment projects of new production plants with risk assessment

  • Work closely with Global unit Communications, Regional Corporate Communications and Country Communications to ensure consistent messaging and branding to all internal and external stakeholders and is in accordance with the policies and standards

  • Develop key message, standby statement, Q&A, and support top management communications as well as leadership communications within the regional unit and Division

  • Plan and work closely with product and marketing team to develop pre-marketing campaign before, during and after the completion of local production plant for achieving business growth, as well as for product launches, innovation, sustainability and industry target group etc.

  • Identify current and emerging issues that are likely affect the organization and its perception among key constituents; and proactively manage them to protect and enhance company’s reputation and brand

  • Develop crisis communications plan and manage the implementation in response to emerging crisis incidents, ensure escalation is well-managed.

  • Develop and implement PR strategy in trade media; handle incoming media enquiries and foster good working contact with trade journalists; ensure good coverage of unit topic in trade media with including interviews

  • Exploit branding opportunities systematically and continuously, ensure an effective brand risk management in term of brand alliance with third parties

  • Strengthen employee communications at offices and sites by developing and implementing tools such as internal newsletter, intranet, employee activities etc.

  • Manage and implement the communication plan for various projects related to organisational changes and facilitate a platform for open communication among internal stakeholders 


  • Bachelor degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Business Administration or related discipline
  • At least 8 years’ relevant experience in public relations, marketing communication, project management from international matrix and multi-cultural environment

  • Able to work cross-functionally and lead through influence
  • Candidate with regional Asia Pacific exposure from both agency and in-house will be of top priority

  • Creative, able to work independently as well as with strong communications skills and customer relationship management

  • A good knowledge of Content Management System, HTML, JavaScript, Google Analytics, and mobile apps would be an advantage

  • Excellent command of written and spoken English, Mandarin and Cantonese
