Where the Chemistry Happens…

Head of Global Catalyst R&D Controlling - Iselin, NJ (1901548)

The Global R&D Controller, reporting to the Director, Global Controlling, successfully leading the R&D steering coordination and the CC (Catalyst) R&D Project Management Office (PMO). Major focus areas are the design, implementation, optimization, simplification, digitalization, and overall comprehensive management of the Divisional R&D process/tools around cost management, analytics/KPI’s/reporting and strategic business steering for EUR 160M annual budget. The Global R&D Controller fosters a continuous operating rhythm of engaged dialogue/communication at divisional, business unit level and throughout supporting functions, driving business alignment and transparency enabling better strategic decision making/value generation including innovation and business case reviews. This includes also organizing and leading the bi-yearly R&D Steering committee meetings which consists of all members of the CC LT (Catalyst Leadership Team), executive team and the President of RC. In addition, IP costs and more broadly the legal cost controlling is embedded with this role. The PMO is raising the effectiveness of the project steering excellence across the entire CC project management organization and includes a strong launch excellence component. The Global R&D Controller will manage and develop 4 direct reports and the responsibility of supporting SVPs of R&D and BUs with global analysis/recommendations. The Global R&D Controller influences and drives productive change across functions and with leadership teams within CC and the central R&D units and has ongoing interaction and engagement with the Divisional President and CC Leadership Team, SVPs and VPs of R&D, and the Divisional Controller.

Formula for Success: Your….

Progressive controlling experience in global, complex and matrixed organizations will contribute to your valued oversight of the R&D steering coordination (including management of Global R&D steering meetings) and of cost management, forecasting, planning and R&D project review processes, where you will impart notable recommendations and implement significant improvements which provide simplification, optimization, harmonization and automation (i.e. service provider vs project view, Tableau drivers & predictive analytics)

In-depth understanding of the economics and P&L of a company and its market dynamics will create improvements in our analytics, KPI’s, and project evaluations based on fact-based analyses, developing strategic recommendations and enabling better decision making/planning. (i.e., benchmarking, market/competition, value generation/ROI of potential & past projects, portfolio steering/investment optimization, cost management, investment goals, etc); your development of improvements to monitor and analyze performance data and market trends will identify opportunities which ultimately improves the overall effectiveness and performance of R&D

Demonstrated ability in influencing and leading change will guide the implementation and management of highly effective communication mechanisms and dialogue with BU’s, business managers, controlling, R&D, strategy and other functions resulting in alignment and transparency and improved support of BU’s & R&D teams via a “big picture” mindset

Strong project management experience and proven ability to handle multiple and complex responsibilities simultaneously, will improve the management of the PMO and enhance the effectiveness of R&D project management abilities and strongly effect the support of product launch excellence initiatives which shorten time to market and further control R&D costs

Excellent analytical, excel and digitalization skills will contribute to your preparation of deep and insightful analysis and provide valued participation in strategic R&D reviews with senior management
