Business Line Manager, Friction Reducers – Global Oilfield Solutions (1805607) – Houston, TX

Where the Chemistry Happens

The Global Oilfield Solutions team focuses on chemical solutions for the oilfield service industry. Our business is customer-focused. The Global Oilfield Solutions business offers a portfolio of specialty chemicals designed to support and enhance oil and gas production.

Global Oilfield Solutions is the sales, marketing, and technical face to the Oilfield industry for BASF. The organization does not own or operate any assets globally. The entire product portfolio is comprised of transfers from other business divisions or purchases from third parties, which makes managing the product and technology portfolio extremely complex.

We are seeking a professional like you to be responsible for the business line management for the friction reducer business for Global Oilfield Solutions. You will also be responsible for driving the implementation of the modular solutions innovation project with key strategic customers, deliver new business development opportunities for the innovation projects on a global basis, and manage the new product launch process including market communication, product positioning, full P&L responsibilities and price and margin management.

Formula for Success

    Your strong business acumen and solid foundation for market fundamentals will be a valued asset as you drive business line performance metrics and financial results. You will validate the annual budget proposal by Sales and define service levels and business rules by product in accordance with working capital budgets. Demonstrating your strong understanding of pricing along with your ability to collaborate with others, you will develop and maintain global market pricing for products under your area of responsibility. You will act as process owner for pricing policy for these products and set prioritization of share or margin management and set the magnitude of the proposed changes. Additionally, you will work closely with Sales to implement product pricing policies and set clear timelines for implementation. Leveraging your education in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or other technical discipline, combined with your relevant industry experience, you will manage the portfolio (product, technology, and service) for the business line on a global basis. Additionally, you will define and implement the initial market approach for new products with a differentiated business model and set contracting strategy for relevant business. You will review and develop the product portfolio with Product & Marketing Management, Technical Managers, and Sales input, as appropriate. Your entrepreneurial mindset and resourcefulness will be essential as you lead the gathering of market intelligence on a global basis for products, customers, and competitors for friction reducers, to gain in-depth knowledge about the value our products and technologies to offer our customer base. You will globally lead and foster idea generation for new business opportunities. Successfully engaging across the organization, you will foster a collaborative, integrated working relationship between the global business line team and the other functions such as sales, technical development, support functions (supply chain, customer care, credit), and regional marketing to jointly achieve the business strategy and growth objectives. Effectively steering others, you will lead a diverse team to execute innovation growth initiatives for the business line. Utilizing your solid computer and organizational skills, you will prepare market information and activity reports for monthly meetings. Your excellent communication skills will be vital as you represent BASF at events such as exhibitions, trade shows, and technical conferences.
