As a Wyandotte Facility Infrastructure Technician you will operate, sample, troubleshoot, minor repairs, and install equipment for all areas of responsibility.  You will perform operational tasks in an effort to improve safety, reliability, minimize downtime, while interacting with the various departments across the Wyandotte site.  Some areas of responsibility will include off-site properties in Wyandotte, Riverview and Grosse Ile.

During your 8-hour shift as a Utility Technician, you will

  • Operate and monitor Site Services support systems (Firewater, Outfalls, Sanitary Sewers, Construction and Groundwater systems). 
  • Perform troubleshooting and minor preventive maintenance on support systems.
  • Adhere to PPE and safety protocols, including confined space entry and physical labor in high noise/temperature environments.
  • Issue permits; safework, isolation, hot work, confined space, monitor the progress and safety of permitted contractors and coordination of excavations for repairs of underground pipe breaks.
  • Complete monthly utilities meter reads, escort DTE, consolidate scrap metal across the site.
  • Coordinate water shipments, generate shipping documents and assist, as needed, with truck drivers loading from groundwater locations.
  • Become familiar with all utilities across the site and assist the Utility Technicians with their support systems (compressed air, river water, steam, and nitrogen) during utility upsets.
  • Have the ability to train for site crane operations to preform lifts as customers may need.
  • Respond if plants need assistance with utility issues.
  • Use and understand basic process controls such as control valves, flows, pressures/vacuum, level and pumps.
  • Work schedule shift and respond to utilities upsets as on call.

 

**Physical demands: The Infrastructure Technician will have the ability to work for prolonged periods, in outdoor settings while wearing proper PPE. The position works with high activity including standing, walking, climbing ladders/stairs and lifting up to 50 lbs., with reasonable accommodation if needed.

 

 

If you...

 

  • Have a High School Diploma or GED
  • Possess at least one year of chemical industry and/or manufacturing experience (preferred)
  • Have a high level of initiative, is a self-starter and can work with limited supervision
  • Hold basic computer skills using Microsoft Excel, Word.  Experience with SAP, Sphera, Swift, etc, would be desirable.
  • Are familiar with various pumps for moving liquid is required and heavy equipment is beneficial
  • Are familiar with working in work environments between inside building activities, outside environment activities, and working from heights. 
  • Are able to obtain license to operate mobile equipment, including JLG, scissor lift.
  • Have a driver's license.
