We are looking for a Quality Engineering Specialist to join our Performance Materials team in Wyandotte.

The Performance Materials division is at the forefront of the much-needed sustainability transformation in plastics. We are seeking a Quality Engineering Specialist to manage compliance through methodologies like 8D and Non-Conformance Management, while also supporting external audits such as ISO 16949, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001. In this role, you will lead customer audits and drive a proactive Quality Management mindset within the Business Unit to promote continuous improvement and quality excellence.

 
 

As a Quality Engineering Specialist, you create chemistry by...

 

  •  Identifying IT interfaces/new applications/processes.
  • Leading the team during internal customer complaints & response
  • Ensuring implementation of measures from audits.
  • Monitoring Customer Satisfaction along with sales
  • Supporting the process owners and interface with internal and external entities to identify and develop/improve IT solutions.
  • Ensuring proposed IT characteristics align globally where applicable.
  • Working in global Quality team to align customer needs/expectations and requests.
  • Performing as a team member, APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning) management of new products.
  • Performiing as a team member by planning and preparing PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) submissions on new products and engineering changes to meet customer deadlines and customer specific requirements.
  • Developing and being responsible of the maintenance of FMEA’s. Verify that Lessons Learned are used in the D/P FMEA. Up-dates process flow charts and control plans.
  • Analyzing data to detect quality problems and recommend corrective action.
  • Identifying, developing, and supporting Continuous Improvement applications

If you...

 

  • Possess a Bachelor’s degree or higher in mechanical or chemical engineering, or equivalent experience, with 2-5 years of related working experience in quality management within the automotive industry.
  • Are familiar with quality tools such as APQP, PPAP, 8D, 5 Whys, SPC, and FMEA, along with excellent skills in identifying, analyzing, and resolving quality issues.
  • Possess proven ability to manage multiple projects, demonstrate urgency, and meet deadlines while coordinating and facilitating cross-functional team meetings.
  • Have certification as an auditor for IATF16949, VDA 6.3, and VDA 6.5, or equivalent knowledge is preferred, along with strong skills in coordination, communication, and negotiation.
  • Are flexible to travel as required
  • Are proficient in software applications like MS Office, SAP, and APIS, with desired working knowledge of Power BI.
