We are seeking a talented and motivated Lab Technician, in BASF’s Wyandotte, MI site, which is part of the Performance materials R&D Polyurethane Systems team at BASF. As a Lab Technician, you will be working under a supervision of an R&D manager and you will be responsible for formulation/sample preparation in lab- and pilot scales, to support polyurethane systems product development.

During your straight day shift as a Lab Technician, you will

• Prepare resin and isocyanate blends, and synthesize foam samples in lab- and pilot-scales. 
• Prepare foam samples for chemical and physical characterization, as well as prepare package and ship samples. 
• Analyze polyols samples for density and viscosity.
• Assist in scale up and/or use of various foam processing equipment.
• Document results in a timely manner into an electronic notebook system.
• Maintain safe and efficient laboratory conditions, while striving to constantly improve safety and efficiency.
• Create and maintain standard operating procedures (SOP).
• Work independently and as a part of project teams to deliver results.

If you...

• Have a B.Sc. degree in chemistry or chemical engineering.
• Have at least 2 years of hands-on industrial experience as a lab technician in a chemical company preferred.
• Detailed oriented with strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Prior experience in synthetic organic chemistry or polyurethane formulation or analysis is preferred.
