Our mission in the Precious Metal Assay Services Laboratory, in Union, New Jersey is to support our many business partners within BASF to provide state of the art, accurate and precise precious metals analysis. We are part of BASF's Catalysts division, headquartered in Iselin, New Jersey, which is the world’s leading supplier of environmental and process catalysts. The group employs more than 5,000, with over 30 manufacturing sites worldwide.


We are seeking a professional like you to be responsible for the on-time, accurate and precise execution of precious metal assays. Information produced is vital for BASF to assist in precious metal manufacturing, quality control and customer service.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Formula for Success


    Leveraging your experience in Chemistry (or a related scientific discipline) and quality control or assurance, you will work directly with the lab Quality Manager to maintain our ISO-17025 and ISO-17043 quality management systems. This will include facilitating laboratory performance measures such as proficiency testing, quality control adherence through regular spot audits, and identify and executing continuous improvement opportunities.

    Your ability to handle multiple tasks with a high degree of accuracy and precision in a fast-paced analytical chemistry laboratory will be essential.

    Demonstrating your knowledge of safe lab practices and bench chemistry experience. Your strong problem-solving skills will be essential as you troubleshoot methods and instruments. 

    Your effective communication skills will serve you well as you clearly communicate results.

    Applying your ability to work both independently and in a team-oriented environment, you will work collaboratively with diverse multiple stakeholders including chemists, maintenance, area experts, and site leadership team. 

    Your proficiency with Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Teams, etc.) and statistical software will be a valued asset as you will work well with others to facilitate laboratory performance measures.
