Where the Chemistry Happens

As a chemicals supplier to almost all industries, BASF will establish a standalone subsidiary dedicated to its Mobile Emissions Catalysts, Precious Metals Trading, Recycling, and related Products and Services business. The new group is referred to as BASF Environmental Catalyst and Metal Solutions and is wholly owned by BASF. BASF Environmental Catalyst and Metal Solutions will operate globally in over 15 countries and comprise of approximately 20 production sites and over 4,000 employees.

We are seeking a professional like you to lead the sales activities for the business unit in this territory and ensure alignment with the overall business strategy. You will be responsible for selling the full product and service portfolio of precious metals recycling (CCM/R) and chemicals markets in the Midwest, U.S. This role aims at deepening existing relationships with existing customers and identifying and onboarding new commercial accounts that meet the profitability and credit criteria of the business unit. You will be a key member of the global commercial leadership team and partner with other members of the group to develop and implement the overall business strategy.

This is an excellent opportunity for a highly motivated, self-starter with strong skills in the areas of influencing others, problem-solving, prioritization, and identifying & driving business opportunities.  You will also get to share your ability to prioritize and focus on the most critical tasks to help the team achieve our goals.  This is a remote opportunity for an individual located in the Midwest region.  This individual will be expected to travel up to 40% of the time, travel will be throughout the Midwest.  

 

As a Territory Manager- Midwest you create chemistry by…

    Managing all commercial sales activities in your territory, including maintaining and developing existing business and identifying and acquiring new customers. Keeping abreast of all major changes influencing the precious metals business environment and analyze market trends, identify, and monitor growth areas, and derive action plans. Ensuring active communication and knowledge sharing both within the commercial organization and with other stakeholders within the business unit, particularly relating to market knowledge which could be useful to the traders. Coordinating with all internal stakeholders to properly onboard and ensure the account meets forecast objectives and customers overall satisfaction. Anticipating and understanding market trend, as well as unmet customer needs. Being responsible for pricing (execution) and financials for the assigned accounts. Implementing strategic account-specific plans for the top customers for the territory.  You will be conducting strategic account planning with financial (Business Margin)/volume targets and critical milestones. Generating timely call reports using the new CRM tool, provide weekly high/low lights as well as key customer and market intelligence, lead documentation, and sales funnel (NBO) maintenance. Acting as the regional liaison with CCM/R Customer Service, Product Management, Trading, Operations, and other cross functional team members to further develop the customer experience and expand new business offerings for CCM/R.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Your formula for success… 

    Education in chemical engineering or similar field 7+ years of sales experience (understanding of the precious metals markets or chemical catalyst industry preferred) Robust analytical skills, solid organizational skills and outstanding communication and interpersonal skills. Strength in establishing and maintaining strong relationships with customers ranging from Fortune 500 companies to local independent enterprises Business segment knowledge: customer and market value chain. Proven ability to develop winning strategies that deliver commercial results within a diverse, challenging, and competitive business climate will be a valued asset Ability to identify, negotiate, and close new business opportunities. Computer skills and keen attention to detail.
