Regulatory Procurement Manager
Now hiring! Regulatory Procurement Manager
We are looking for a Regulatory Procurement Manager to join our Agricultural Solutions team in Research Triangle Park, NC.
Come create chemistry with us!
BASF’s Agricultural Solutions division connects innovation, customers, partners and agricultural experts and integrates sustainability criteria into all business decisions. We help farmers deliver the best possible outcomes, working to achieve the balance between economic, environmental and social value creation for sustainable and efficient agriculture.
As a Regulatory Procurement Manager (internally as, Contract Manager Regulatory), you will serve as the buyer and scientific focal point for planning and placing external work required to support the global registration of agrochemicals and seeds and traits globally. This role involves close collaboration with R&D, Regulatory, and Regulatory Science units to conduct best practice outsourcing (including competitive bidding), select best‑fit service providers, and award work.
We are seeking a professional like you to act as a strategic partner to global R&D, Regulatory, and Regulatory Science units. You will establish strong working relationships with stakeholders to create sourcing strategies and execute contracting activities. You will operate with a high degree of autonomy, independently making day‑to‑day operational and tactical decisions related to the placement and management of external regulatory work within established procurement guidelines and strategies. You will also develop and maintain relationships with a network of service providers, ensuring the sustainable availability of study and regulatory consultancy services through long-term, value driven partnerships.
As a Regulatory Procurement Manager, you create chemistry by...
- Conducting market surveys to maintain visibility into supplier capabilities and capacity, defining regional and/or global sourcing strategies for assigned categories, and serving as a backup for team members as needed.
- Communicating effectively at a scientific level with internal stakeholders to understand contracting needs and translating those requirements (both verbally and in writing) into clear, actionable Requests for Quotation (RFQs) for contract research organizations (CROs) and other service providers.
- Representing the function in planning processes, ensuring external work plans are current, globally aligned, and transparently communicated.
- Collaborating cross‑functionally with R&D, Regulatory, and Regulatory Science units to develop sourcing and contracting strategies that reflect BASF business needs and evolving market conditions.
- Identifying and implementing solutions across a range of scenarios, including those that require developing your own creative approaches.
- Negotiating contracts with external service providers which provide best value for BASF, including but not limited to supply security, data, and IP protection as well as internal and external efforts.
- Ensuring that the selected external service providers adhere to the BASF’s global code of conduct and EHS policies.
If you...
- Have a PhD in agriculture or related scientific discipline with 3+ years of experience in a relevant industry (agrochemical, pharmaceutical, or life science industries) or 3+ years of relevant PhD research work, preferably supporting the placement of external work for agrochemical registration; or MS degree in agriculture or related scientific discipline with 6+ years of relevant industry experience; or BA/BS degree in agriculture or related scientific discipline with 8+ years of relevant industry experience.
- Possess agrochemical‑related Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) laboratory and/or GLP field experience, or experience supporting the registration of agrochemical products or seeds and traits.
- Demonstrate strategic thinking, leadership, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate, influence, and negotiate effectively at all organizational levels as well as with external service providers.
- Have a proven ability to collaborate within cross‑functional teams, show initiative, analyze options, exercise sound judgment, and recommend well‑supported courses of action to stakeholders.
- Have strong organizational and project management skills.
- Are able to travel up to 10%, domestically.
