Global Operational Excellence Manager - Trait Development (2001741) – Lubbock, TX or Research Triangle Park, NC 


Where the Chemistry Happens


You will lead the R&D continuous improvement transformation initiative in Trait Development. You will work collaboratively with colleagues in Trait Development to facilitate continuous improvement in TD’s activities (labs, greenhouses and field sites), TD processes (e.g. elite event selection, product placement, shipments) and TD projects across crops and across regions.


You will drive global operational alignment within Trait Development and with other R&D and support functions to drive efficient and effective processes, procedures and use of resources to deliver high-quality results and decision making. You will support innovation initiatives.


You will be a member of the R&D OpEx Core team with Global OpEx Managers from other R&D functions. The objective of the R&D OpEx team is to establish a common R&D Operational Excellence framework. You will ensure implementation in Trait Development.

Formula for Success

Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Agronomics, Biochemistry or a related field with 2 years of experience or M.S. in Molecular Biology, Agronomics, Biochemistry or a related field with 4 years of experience or B.S. in Molecular Biology, Agronomics, Biochemistry or a related field with 8 years of experience

At least 5 years’ experience in Trait Development or similar R&D function

Leading activities, processes or programs

Experience in Lean or Six Sigma methodology and ability to grow these skills

Good self-organization and planning skills; analytical and methodical approach to problem solving

Constructive and supportive people management and teamwork attitude, effective lateral leadership skills, flexible, professional attitude, customer friendly and amenable

Advanced communication skills across international borders; constructive and creative interactions with business partners and other functions, and with a wide diversity of staff, and cultural and geographical backgrounds

Ability to convince, problem solving, flexible and strategic thinking, innovative drive, creativity, capacity to reduce complexity

Ability to work on problems of moderate scope in which process or data analysis requires a review of identifiable factors and effective decision making.

Demonstrates attention to detail and is committed to delivering high quality of work, even under time pressure
