We are looking for a Technical Service Specialist - I&I to join our Care Chemicals team remotely within the US.

As a Technical Service Specialist - I&I, you will be responsible for applying strong Industrial and Institutional Cleaning (I&I) technical expertise and a customer-focused mindset to generate new business and maintain existing business with key I&I customers / accounts for the North America EM business. In this role, you will identify and drive new business opportunities by understanding customer requests and helping to communicate this information to the laboratory-based application technology team. You will also sustain BASF’s customers / accounts by regularly engaging with key points of contact and demonstrating a high degree of responsiveness to their needs. The information you learn while interfacing with customers will be applied in collaboration with sales and marketing to develop strategies to grow our business. This role reports directly into the Home Care and I&I Head of Technical Service.
As a Technical Service Specialist - I&I, you create chemistry by...
- Generating new business opportunities via close interaction with customer technical contacts.
- Providing regional technical application expertise to address customer inquiries by leveraging your education and experience in technical service, product development, or other relevant technical field.
- Developing the technical strategy necessary to support strategic business growth and relationship building at key customers in I&I.
- Multi-tasking with high attention to detail to manage multiple concurrent customer needs involving a significant degree of complexity.
- Communicating in written and verbal form with varying stakeholders (e.g., Technical and Commercial teams, customers, etc.) will be essential as you generate technical progress and project reports.
- Collaborating effectively, you will be responsible for proposal development and execution of customer projects and will then validate, refine and implement in close collaboration with sales and marketing teams.

- Have an advanced degree (master’s or PhD) in chemistry, chemical engineering, biochemistry or a related field, with minimum 2 years industrial experience, more preferably 10+ years.
- Are experienced in formulation, preferably in detergents and cleaners.
- Demonstrate strong customer focus, including ability to prioritize the needs of multiple customers.
- Can think strategically to develop opportunities and relationships over time.
- Possess effective written and verbal communications skills.
- Are able and willing to travel ~30% of the time across the North America region.

Pay transparency
BASF is committed to pay transparency practices. The competitive pay range for this role is $132,800 to $166,000. Actual pay will be determined based on education, certifications, experience, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
