As a Shift Supervisor you will lead personnel on a 12‑hour shift to safely achieve production targets by managing chemical operators. You will also drive results through others by troubleshooting processes with Engineers, initiating and managing work orders in SAP, developing staffing schedules, administering discipline per policy and the collective bargaining agreement, and fostering a strong culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.

During your 12-hour shift as a Shift Supervisor, you will

• Lead personnel during a 12‑hour shift to achieve production targets in a safe and environmentally concious manner.
• Act as a results‑driven leader who accomplishes goals by working effectively through others.
• Ensure the safety of all personnel in his or her plant, which is the foremost concern of our supervisors, and only individuals with the highest commitment to common safety are considered for the role.
• Initiate and enter work orders into the maintenance work management system (SAP) and collaborate with Maintenance to minimize downtime and control costs.
• Work closely with Engineers to troubleshoot manufacturing processes and recommend process improvements.
• Manage daily activities of chemical operators within the assigned area.
• Build and sustain a culture of safety awareness and accountability.
• Ensure proper documentation is maintained, including procedures for material and product handling, storage, and timely completion of production reports.
• Manage contractor job setup, including confined space entry, lockout/tagout, and safety work permit requirements.
• Conduct safety meetings and ensure employees are properly trained.
• Develop unit staffing schedules and administer discipline in accordance with company policy and the collective bargaining agreement.
• Participate in emergency response teams and receive specialized training in hazardous materials, regulatory compliance, and chemical plant operations.

If you have...

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Three years of experience as an operator in one or more operating units at the BASF Hannibal plant, or three years of supervisory experience in an industrial manufacturing environment.
• Strong personal commitment to building and maintaining a robust safety culture.
• Demonstrated coaching and leadership skills with the ability to communicate effectively and build strong working relationships at all organizational levels.
• Computer literacy, including familiarity with Microsoft Office applications, and a commitment to continuous improvement of computer skills.
• Strong problem‑solving and troubleshooting skills with the ability to quickly resolve equipment, process, and personnel issues.
