Where Chemistry Happens

As a chemicals supplier to almost all industries, BASF will establish a standalone subsidiary dedicated to its Mobile Emissions Catalysts, Precious Metals Trading, Recycling, and related Products and Services business. The new group is referred to as BASF Environmental Catalyst and Metal Solutions and is wholly owned by BASF. BASF Environmental Catalyst and Metal Solutions will operate globally in over 15 countries and comprise of approximately 20 production sites and over 4,000 employees.

We are seeking an HR Specialist with a focus on responsibilities associated with Time & Attendance policies and the alignment and processing of the NA Payroll via the North America Payroll provider (ADP). 

Partner with the Payroll & Benefits vendors and HR colleagues to assist with the administration the various BASF ECMS leave policies. This position will be responsible to provide the payroll expertise to coordinate and execute the processing and review of multi state biweekly, semi-monthly and off-cycle payrolls for exempt and non-exempt employees through ADP. 

The HR Specialist will manage accurate and timely processing according to the payroll schedule and special off cycle payments as well as post payroll reconciliation.  This may involve but is not limited to HR data interfaces, master data changes, taxation, and time and attendance. 

Partner with the site managers, members of HRIS, Benefits and HR team members to assure Time and Attendance policies/programs are administered in accordance with ECMS policy and current legal requirements.


As the Human Resources Specialist – Payroll,  Time &  Attendance you will………

    Act as the primary partner to ADP with regard coordinating the preparation, processing, and posting of payrolls with meticulous attention to detail and accuracy Work closely with other HRIS team members to ensure all pre-payroll and post payroll-processing activities are managed accurately (taxes, 401k, direct deposit, benefits contributions, etc.) and assure that internal systems are operating in accordance with Time & Attendance polices Partner with HR colleagues (e.g. Compensation, Mobility, HR Managers, Onboarding, Benefits LOA, HR Operations etc.) as a subject matter expert for all payroll and time and attendance initiatives, including: system upgrades, plan changes, law changes, efforts to improve data quality, accuracy and efficiencies Provide research and resolution for employee inquiries (taxation, direct deposit, time and attendance) Ensure compliance with all applicable federal and state regulations and wage and hour laws that impact systems and processes Utilize existing ad hoc and standard reporting tools to assist with internal auditing and create/design custom reports as needed Provide payroll tax reports as needed/requested
  • Manage tax agency notices received for FEIN and submit to ADP
  • Responsible for maintaining & and assisting with plan changes
  • Coordinates various government filings
  • Assures policies follow all state and federal regulations
  • Assume additional responsibilities as assigned
  • Partner with Corporate tax and Finance for all payroll tax credits and GL posting questions related to payments processed and posted

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Your Formula for Success…….

    Associate degree or bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent HR work experience CPP Certification (American Payroll Association) or FPC (Fundamental Payroll Certification) preferred 5+ years HR experience is preferred with a minimum of 5+ years of experience in Payroll processing Experience processing payrolls with multiple pay frequencies and multiple state jurisdictions SAP experience preferred High attention to detail and demonstrated ability to interpret information to identify problems and solutions, handle ambiguity and change, as well as explore cause and effect relationships between aspects of issues and proposed solutions. Demonstrated technical skills in HR/Payroll system, General ledger & Microsoft Office Applications

Actual pay will be determine based on education, certifications, experience, and other job-related factor permitted by law.
