As a Board Operator*, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the Distributed Control System (DCS) and associated process equipment within the unit. This role ensures compliance with all safety, environmental, and quality standards while supporting production goals and team performance. This position works a 12-hour rotating shift schedule, including nights, weekends and holidays as required.
*Board Operators are required to also hold outside qualifications and/or meet physical requirements of working outside
As a Board Operator, you will
During your 12-hour shift as Board Operator, you will
- Maintain an uncompromising commitment to safety and proactively support a strong environmental and safety compliance culture.
- Act in a manner that ensures that all BASF standards are maintained in the areas of safety, environmental, quality manufacturing and individual and team performance
- Operate and monitor the DCS board to control process conditions and ensure optimal performance; and outside qualification areas, as required
- Ensure all work is performed within established procedures and instructions.
- Participate in required training and development programs to maintain qualifications and enhance skills.
- Respond to emergency situations and perform emergency response activities as required
- Assist with troubleshooting process and equipment issues to minimize downtime and maintain reliability.
- Collect, document, and interpret process data using various techniques and devices; make appropriate adjustments based on results.
- Handle materials in compliance with corporate, local, state, and federal regulations.
- Share knowledge and assist other operators; collaborate with outside operators.
- Hold outside qualifications and/or meet physical requirements of working outside
If you...
Basic Qualifications
- Have a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Have at least 1 year of chemical manufacturing experience, or equivalent military operational experience.
- Have held the position of qualified board operator for at least 6 months.
- Have demonstrated strong mechanical aptitude and ability to operate complex systems.
- Have a basic understanding of chemical processes and safety protocols.
- Are able to read and interpret technical documents, including P&IDs and MSDS.
- Are able to work in a plant environment, including standing for extended periods, lifting up to 50 lbs, and wearing required PPE.
- Hold a valid driver’s license.
- Are able to work a rotating 12-hour shift schedule.
- Are at least 18 years of age.
- Successfully complete the BASF pre-employment assessment.
Preferred Qualifications
- PTEC degree or other post-secondary technical program degree preferred
- Experience with DeltaV, Foxboro, ARE THERE OTHERS WE SHOULD INCLUDE?
- Demonstrate exceptional teamwork, maintain the highest safety standards in all tasks, adopt a results-oriented mindset, and consistently exhibit dependability.
- Proficiency in basic computer operations and confidence in utilizing technology.
