Now hiring! Maintenance Specialist

Freeport, TX (Onsite)

We are looking for a Maintenance Specialist to join our Petrochemicals (CP) team in Freeport, TX.

Where the chemistry happens…

BASF’s Petrochemical division is the starting point of BASF's petrochemical value creation worldwide, also known as “the heart of the Verbund,” representing the world's largest chemical markets. Together, let us keep the heart beating one creative solution at a time!

We are seeking a professional like you to support the Acrylics and Oxo-SynGas operating units by leading the planning, coordination, and execution of unit outages/turnarounds, washes, and other large work scopes. In addition to execution excellence, this role requires strategic thinking, strong communication skills, and the ability to influence and align stakeholders across Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, Technology, and Capital Projects. The successful candidate will play a key leadership role in balancing business priorities, execution risks, and long-term operational objectives to deliver safe, efficient, and predictable outcomes.

Come create chemistry with us!

As a Maintenance Specialist, you create chemistry by...

  • Ensuring all outages and washes comply with the G-P-ME 010 Outage Process, including milestone development and governance; scope definition with Operations; verification that planning, work packages, and scheduling are complete and execution-ready; coordination of cost tracking and controls; ownership of the lessons-learned process; and ensuring accountability for safe, efficient, and predictable execution.
  • Being responsible for monitoring and continuously improving planning and scheduling productivity and work management effectiveness for routine tasks incorporated into these specialized events.
  • Providing leadership throughout the outage lifecycle by driving strategic planning, prioritization, and execution decisions that support unit, site, and business objectives.
  • Leading cross-functional alignment among Maintenance, Operations, Technology, Engineering, and Capital Project teams to develop executable work scopes, validate resource and sequencing strategies, and ensure successful execution.
  • Facilitating discussions and influencing decisions related to scope, schedule, risk, cost, and resource allocation while balancing immediate operational needs with longer-term strategic objectives.
  • Developing and executing stakeholder communication strategies, delivering clear and effective updates to stakeholders ranging from craft personnel and supervisors to site and business leadership.
  • Serving as a trusted partner to leadership teams by identifying opportunities for continuous improvement, driving alignment, and promoting best practices that enhance outage performance and reliability.

If you have...

  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in the Petrochemical Industry.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience supporting maintenance outages, turnarounds, or large maintenance events.
  • A minimum of 2 years leading maintenance outages or complex cross-functional maintenance scopes.
  • Demonstrated experience leading and influencing teams in a matrixed environment.
  • Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, including the ability to balance business priorities, operational requirements, and execution risks.
  • Experience communicating with diverse stakeholder groups and presenting recommendations to leadership.
  • Knowledge of SAP and Primavera.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
