Process Technician Apprentice - Chattanooga, TN

BASF’s North American Apprenticeship Development Program (NAADP) is strongly committed to attracting talented candidates like YOU to join our manufacturing workforce, where you will have the opportunity to grow your career through great work experiences further enhanced through on the job training and skills development.

As part of BASF’s North American Apprenticeship Development Program (NAADP), apprentices participate in a 12-month program offering hands-on work experience in BASF’s chemical manufacturing plants while attending community college to earn a company paid AAS degree in Chemical Engineering Technology Concentration. While participating in the NAADP, apprentices will be offered paid tuition, wages, and access to benefits. After the successful completion of the NAADP, apprentices will have earned a AAS degree in Chemical Engineering Technology Concentration and received on the job training directly related to the BASF Production Technician roles.

Potential start date is August 1, 2022.

              Apprentices will report to the Operations Manager who, along with the assigned sites’ manufacturing staff, will support the Apprentice throughout the NAADP.

Formula for Success: You Will…  Purpose:

A Process Operation Technician in the Manufacturing Unit works from specific verbal and/or written instructions to operate the appropriate process equipment to produce a consistent product. Production Technician Apprentice responsibility and accountability includes, but is not limited to learning to:   Major Responsibilities:

• Load and unload process equipment. • Operate process equipment to maintain product within customer specifications. • Maintain acceptable housekeeping standards in the work area. • Follow all safety regulations. • Operate forklift. • Maintain lot integrity by keeping accurate batch/run sheets. • Problem solving and troubleshooting of equipment • Safety regulations associated with a chemical operation. • Proper material handling procedures. EHS: • Adhere to established safety, health and environmental policies and procedures. • Participate in incident investigations. • Accomplish day-to-day and recurring EHS activities • Safety suggestions • Proactive hazard recognition and EHS issues • Attend and participate in Safety meetings • Waste management activities

Ingredients for Success: What We Look for in You…   Basic Qualifications:

    A minimum of one year of work experience where you exhibited the ability to learn on the job and use provided equipment/tools followed both written and verbal procedures/instructions complied with operational and safety guidelines demonstrated the ability to work independently and as part of a team Ability to lift 50lbs Able to work in hot or cold environments Ability to stand extended amounts of time Ability to work shift work
Preferred Qualifications:

    High school Diploma or GED (those not possessing a Diploma or GED will be required to obtain one (with tuition assistance available from BASF) before moving to any other role at BASF)
