The Marketing Communications Manager – Canola Crop Protection & Social Media leads the end-to-end marketing communications strategy for the Canola crop protection portfolio, including xarvio® communications, to support differentiated positioning and insight-driven grower and retailer experiences across every stage of the funnel to drive demand. As the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for social media, this role ensures nuanced, coordinated storytelling across seed and crop protection portfolios while also establishing social strategy, engagement standards that evoke trust, and listening practices that guide best practice across the MarCom team, as an extension of and connected to the overarching Social Media strategy, lead by the Communications team. Through unified messaging and close collaboration with cross functional partners, this role strengthens integrated seed and CP narratives and ensures marketing programs remain aligned with commercial priorities.

  • Partnering with crop, brand, and xarvio® managers to support development of integrated crop and brand plans grounded in customer insight, needs, values, priorities, segmentation and lifecycle stages.  
  • Aligning agency requirements, timelines, and expectations early in the planning process to support efficient development of marcom strategy, roadmaps, media plans and tactical ideation. 
  • Leading the development, coordination, and execution of crop and brand marketing communications plans, ensuring alignment with business objectives, customer segmentation priorities, and budget. As well as leading campaign execution across channels to ensure the right message is reaching the right customer at the right time. 
  • Acting as the primary point of contact between BASF and the Agency of Record for crop, brand, and cross-crop campaigns. 
  • Providing clear directions, approvals, and feedback to internal and external stakeholders to deliver compelling, relevant, and timely content. 
  • Collaborating closely with MarCom team members to align cross-crop, crop, and brand campaigns under a holistic customer journey. As well as owning social media strategy and best practices across the MarCom team, ensuring social media plays a clear and consistent role within campaigns. 
  • Maintaining and managing an integrated campaign calendar to avoid overlapping, ensure prioritization, and support coordinated execution. While also, serving as the BASF brand advocate by ensuring all content is aligning with brand standards, positioning, and platform strategy across channels. 
  • Leading the development of brand content plans, community engagement standards, social listening practices, and collaboration between organic and paid social efforts. 
  • Working with Communications and Agency partners to guide reputation management, issue response, and risk-aware engagement. 
  • Extending and refining social media playbooks, standards, guardrails, and enablement across the MarCom portfolio through training and documentation. 
  • Managing overall budgets for brand, crop, and cross-crop initiatives, while forecasting spend accurately and tracking performance monthly. 

If you have...

 

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Agriculture, or a related field, or bringing equivalent experience (required); holding social media certifications (preferred). 
  • Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in marketing, brand management, integrated campaign leadership, or other commercial roles. 
  • At least 3 years of experience in the agriculture industry, with an understanding of grower and retail customers in Canada as a preference. 
  • Experience in social media strategy, community engagement, and managing reputation, issues, or sensitive topics. As well as managing social media strategy, publishing, moderation, social listening, insight generation, and paid digital marketing activities. 
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills with ability to foster innovation, embrace and implement change, while working with an agency and multiple stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of digital integrated farming platforms such as FieldView and xarvio®, while building knowledge of the crop protection and seed industry and its customers. 
  • Strong judgment, responsiveness, and brand stewardship while managing multiple budgets with forecasting and tracking. 
  • Experience in social publishing, management, listening, and analytics platforms (e.g., Sprout Social, Hootsuite, Meltwater) and working proficiently with Microsoft Office Suite.
