We are looking for a Business Developer - Processing Tomato to join our Agricultural Solutions Vegetable Seeds team. This is a remote role based in California. 

This position comes with a company vehicle.

The Business Developer will develop, plan and execute the sales initiatives towards the strategic accounts related to processing tomato. Build up a long-term relationship with international or national customers in line with the M&S strategy and within BASF Vegetable Seeds to realize profitability and partnership. This position also owns portfolio responsibilities for crop pricing and profitability, manages the long-term pipeline, and ensures success through comprehensive customer account plan.

  • Planning, reviewing, adapting, and executing the annual sales plan for designated key accounts.
  • Managing relationships between customers and top retailers in the region.
  • Representing the company and presenting value‑based proposals tailored to key customer needs, while building long‑term partnerships and driving sustainable sales. 
  • Providing market, pricing, product, grower, and consumer insights to inform the crop vision and strategic planning.
  • Collaborating across crop teams to understand overall strategy (executing trial plans with key customers) and to implement aligned marketing and business plans.

If you...

 

  • Hold a bachelor’s degree
  • Have 5–8 years of sales or product development experience
  • Have marketing and/or project management experience (strongly preferred)
  • Possess broad knowledge of the vegetable seed business and strong agronomic skills
  • Demonstrate advanced consultative selling skills, including negotiation and closing
  • Exhibit an entrepreneurial mindset and the ability to influence stakeholders across functions and backgrounds
  • Are proficient in English (required); bilingual English/Spanish preferred
  • Have strong relationships or knowledge of top U.S. retailers
  • Are able to travel up to 25-30%, domestically

Pay transparency

 

BASF is committed to pay transparency practices. The competitive Pay Range for this role is $93,000 - $128,700. Actual pay will be determined based on education, certifications, experience, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
