In this role, you will be responsible for completing quality control and assurance testing of raw materials, intermediates, and finished products, in a safe manner, for the BASF Attapulgus, Georgia site within the scope of the ISO 9001 Quality Management System and RCMS Management System in compliance with all certification requirements. The person in this role will also evaluate data using appropriate software to ensure the results meet internal and external specifications. The appropriate person(s) will be notified timely when testing results do not meet required specifications. Support of ongoing continuous improvement of lab and plant processes through QA/QC activities to meet and/or exceed customer expectations is an integral characteristic of this role.
During your 12 hour rotating shift as a Quality Assurance Lab Technician, you will...
- Complete quality control and assurance testing of raw materials, intermediates, and finished products in compliance with ISO 9001 and RCMS requirements.
- Perform routine sample analysis and verification protocols, including standardizing solutions, following documented methods, and maintaining required records and documentation.
- Evaluate and interpret analytical data using software tools, ensuring results meet internal and external specifications and communicating out-of-spec results to appropriate personnel.
- Maintain chemical standards and documentation, ensuring re-certification and compliance requirements are completed and recorded.
- Support troubleshooting and root cause analysis, including reporting atypical sample or equipment behavior and participating in continuous improvement activities.
- Conduct additional laboratory and plant support activities such as sample collection, environmental monitoring, bench-scale testing, and analytical instrumentation maintenance/verification.
- Utilize laboratory equipment and data software, monitor and interpret SPC charts, and take appropriate actions to maintain quality standards.
- Optimize procedures through Measurement System Analysis and other methods, while following supervisor direction and maintaining compliance with safety, quality, and operational requirements.
If you...
- Have a High School Diploma or GED.
- Are able to work a 12-hour rotating shift schedule, including overtime as required.
- Are able to follow written and verbal instructions and demonstrate strong communication skills (oral and written).
- Have 2 years of experience working in a laboratory setting, ideally in a QC/QA production lab supporting manufacturing (ISO/RCMS environment), it is preferred.
- Have a developed understanding of general chemistry, laboratory safety, math, and statistics, it is preferred.
- Have experience using computer systems and software such as Microsoft Office, LIMS, or SAP, it is preferred.
