RESPONSIBILITIES

Our unit White Biotechnology Research develops sustainable and bio-based product and process innovations. As a Lab Team Leader and Research Scientist within the Industrial Biotechnology group "Microbial Bioprocesses" you will head a research lab and take over project tasks with a focus on fermentation process development from lab scale to pilot scale.

  • Together with your team, you will drive innovations in the field of fermentative production of microbial products.
  • You will supervise the experimental work of your lab team, optimize the workflows within the lab and support projects in our pilot facility.
  • As part of a global interdisciplinary project team, you will represent your team internally and externally and establish a network with business units and academic partners.
  • In addition, you will monitor market trends, relevant scientific developments as well as competitor activities and initiate new research projects.
  • Last but not least, you ensure the compliance with occupational health, safety and environmental policies and procedures.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ph.D. degree in life sciences, preferably biotechnology or bioprocess engineering
  • Post Doc or initial professional experience in the field of industrial biotechnology/bioprocess engineering are a plus
  • extensive practical experience in development and optimization of microbial fermentation processes at different scales using various analytical methods (e.B. HPLC, GC, etc.)
  • experience in downstream processing is a plus
  • solid knowledge of microbial metabolism as well as modern molecular biological methods
  • excellent communication skills in English, basic knowledge of German and experience in working as part of interdisciplinary teams
  • determination, creative ideas, customer orientation and entrepreneurial mindset
