Objectives of the Position
This role is responsible for designing and installing optimal equipment in collaboration with the Engineering & Maintenance (E&M) team to support efficient and safe plant operations. It also involves training plant personnel to perform self-maintenance of equipment.
Under the guidance of the Site Manager and in accordance with company policies, the role oversees production, quality, shipping, and receiving activities to ensure monthly sales targets are met with high quality and cost efficiency. Additionally, the role manages both existing and new biological wastewater treatment facilities, working closely with external partners and authorities to ensure environmental compliance.
Main Responsibilities
1. Deputy Site Manager Duties
- Acts as the second deputy site manager when both the Site Manager and QA/Technical Manager are absent (excluding decisions on management reviews, long-term investments, HR matters, and budgeting).
2. Safety & Environmental Management
- Implements safety and environmental policies based on corporate and legal requirements.
- Conducts first aid training for all site employees and monitors safety attitudes.
- Serves as an Emergency Response Team member, leading on-site actions during emergencies and reporting to the central ER team.
- Leads EHS-related activities from a technical perspective as part of the Responsible Care (RC) committee.
- Identifies and improves unsafe working conditions in collaboration with the production team.
3. Production Management
- Develops production plans based on sales forecasts and R&D requirements.
- Coordinates procurement of raw materials and packaging.
- Revises production schedules in response to equipment issues.
- Participates in management meetings and collaborates with other departments to ensure smooth operations.
- Evaluates production performance, cost, and delivery timelines.
- Assesses feasibility of new product manufacturing and recommends necessary changes.
- Leads weekly production meetings and conducts regular site inspections.
- Oversees purchasing, inventory control, and interplant material coordination.
4. Waste Management
- Operates and supervises wastewater treatment facilities, ensuring water quality standards are met.
- Communicates with external partners and authorities regarding environmental compliance.
- Manages solid waste handling and audits waste disposal companies.
5. Equipment Design & Installation
- Plans and executes installation, relocation, and upgrades of machinery using new technologies.
- Designs, estimates costs, and installs electrical and instrumentation equipment.
- Manages individual investment projects from design to commissioning.
- Collaborates with local and regional technical teams to ensure equipment suitability.
6. Maintenance & Planning
- Develops maintenance schedules and spare parts inventory based on production needs.
- Participates in technical and process improvement planning.
7. Team & People Management
- Plans team structure, headcount, and budget.
- Coaches and evaluates team members, fostering skill development and succession planning.
- Reviews team performance and identifies areas for improvement.
- Implements strategies to enhance productivity, quality, and efficiency.
Job Requirements
- University degree or equivalent
- Minimum 10 years of experience in plant operations or related fields
- Over 3 years of experience in people and team management
- Business-level English proficiency
- Native-level Japanese proficiency
