Objectives of the Position
- Lead and foster the professional growth of the Marketing team by setting clear goals, mentoring team members and optimizing workflows as well as cross-functional collaboration
- Provide strategic direction to the country organization for the short-term via budgeting process and mid- to long-term via the long-term planning process
- Development and implementation of the country strategy as well as crop system portfolio strategies/roadmaps covering short-/mid-/long-term objectives; lead strategic, crop system specific initiatives
- Responsible to enable profitable growth by capturing maximum value of BASF assets by continuously identifying growth opportunities via relevant market insights that are addressed with appropriate portfolio decisions and marketing measures; development and implementation of marketing plan(s) that enable achieving financial budget targets in key crops
- Responsible for the management and development of the BASF offering including crop protection, seeds & traits and digital solutions (in collaboration with the digital team) and other portfolio parts that meet market and customer needs and create value-adding, differentiated connected offers to achieve mid- to long-term financial targets
- Responsible for the development and successful implementation of integrated marketing campaigns in accordance with the crop system strategies to successfully reach sales budgets; responsible for the planning of the total marketing communication cost budget as well as planning of campaign/activity specific cost budgets
- Leverage market intelligence data for strategic advantage, well-informed decision-making and fostering a culture of data-driven insights
- Business management of 3rd party sales and 3rd party licensing to capture maximum value from BASF assets

Main Tasks
|
Team Leadership & Development
- Responsible to lead and develop the Marketing team
- Responsible to develop the skills and competencies of the Marketing team members
- Ensure clear understanding of roles & responsibilities as well as objectives of the Marketing team members; provide direction enabling the team to perform at its best
- Establish an efficient and effective team set-up and build a strong team spirit and sense of ownership for common goals of the Marketing team
- Thinks and acts in collaboration with other teams as well as actively drive exchange and collaboration across functions within and outside of the Marketing team
- Ensure compliance with BASF's global code of conduct, BASF values and guiding principles and guidelines; ensure compliance with BASF EHS policy and business center regulations
- Collaborate, network and communicate with global and regional teams to understand their developments and strategies as well as represent local needs and developments as appropriate
- Active engagement across functions in the country to achieve the country strategy and targets, as well as participation in the country leadership team

Strategy & Strategic Planning
- Drive deep understanding of customer needs and market developments (competitor, industry, regulations, trends etc) to develop and update local strategies; identify new business opportunities/new business models and other potential for innovations to capture growth opportunities
- Responsible to lead and develop the country strategy including strategic short-/mid-/long-term objectives
- Responsible for the development and implementation of crop system portfolio strategies/roadmaps in accordance with the global crop system strategies; lead strategic, crop specific initiatives
- Responsible for the development of the short-term planning (years 1-3) including budgeting process; responsible for the development of the long-term strategic planning (years 4-10) in alignment with regional team
- Responsible to develop and implement marketing plan(s) that enable achieving financial budget targets in key crops and support achieving mid- to long-term financial targets by enabling profitable growth; active monitoring of business development in key crops to identify deviations vs. plan to trigger development and implementation of corrective actions

Portfolio Management & Development
- Responsible for the management and development of the portfolio including crop protection, seeds & traits and digital solutions (in collaboration with the digital team)
- Responsible for segmentation and effective positioning of products within the portfolio; responsible for the development/local customization and implementation of product launch strategies
- Responsible for the pricing strategy by defining adjustments of the list prices for the product portfolio
- Responsible for mid- to long-term portfolio development that matches local requirements including development and approval of business cases in collaboration with other functions to capture business opportunities in the market; responsible for development of the targeted positioning of products that matches local requirements
- Drive to the expansion of the BASF offering including crop protection, digital solutions, seeds & traits, biological solutions and the creation of connected offers that create added value for farmers
- Business management of portfolio for key crops with the target to enable profitable growth; capturing maximum value of BASF assets by continuously identifying growth opportunities via relevant market insights that are addressed with appropriate portfolio decisions and marketing measures

Campaign Management
- Responsible for the development and successful implementation of integrated marketing campaigns in accordance with the crop system strategies to successfully reach sales budgets
- Actively collaborate with internal and external stakeholders for the development, implementation, tracking and measurement of integrated marketing campaigns to ensure on time execution within allocated budgets and to maximize the level of campaign effectiveness
- Responsible for the planning of the total marketing communication cost budget as well as planning of campaign/activity specific cost budgets
- Lead for promotional activities (combining offline and online interaction) for key crops across all channels; ambassador to ensure a state-of-the-art campaign management approaches by implementing new, digital communication activities and channels

Market Insights
- Leverage market intelligence data for strategic advantage, well-informed decision-making and fostering a culture of data-driven insights
- Responsible for leading the generation of comprehensive market intelligence information to enable informed business decisions and to enhance competitive positioning
- Establish systematic gathering, analysis and interpretation of market intelligence data relevant to the organization’s goals
- Provide insights to management and across the functional teams that drive product development and positioning, marketing strategies, promotional campaigns and overall business growth
- Responsible to work on strategies and approaches to constantly improve the availability of required market intelligence data as well as the efficient and effective generation of meaningful insights and conclusions

3rd Party Management
- Business management of 3rd party sales and 3rd party licensing to capture maximum value from BASF assets
- Responsible to capture maximum value from BASF assets via 3rd party collaborations with the target to sell TGAI and/or FFP to other crop protection manufacturers; business management of sales to 3rd parties in addition to the BASF business to distribution partners with the target to ensure profitable growth
- Responsible for the budgeting and active monitoring of business development to ensure on-time delivery and to proactively identify deviations vs. plan to trigger development and implementation of mitigation measures
- Proactive identification of additional business opportunities by proposing and implementing ideas for additional collaborations
- Responsible to capture maximum value from BASF assets via 3rd party collaborations with the target to establish in- and out-licensing business via collaboration with other crop protection manufacturers for the development of new solutions
- Proactive identification of additional business opportunities by systematically identifying portfolio gaps of BASF and 3rd parties and proposing and implementing ideas for additional collaborations

Minimum Education and Qualification Required for the Position
|
Education
|
- University degree in business administration or agriculture
- Language: Professional level in both Japanese and English
|
|
Working Experience
|
- Min. 7 years of leadership experience
- Min. 10 years of work experience in Product Management, Marketing, Business Management preferably in the agricultural industry
