1. Objectives of the position:

• To ensure effective management of Instrumentation functional activities as a lead on the Thane Site.
• To ensure proper functioning of Instruments like PLC system , SCADA system , EPSC system & various field Instruments of all over Thane factory.
• To provide the necessary support to project for Instrumentation function in commissioning & installation.
• Ensure automation security at site

2.   Main tasks:

      General:

The candidate should have experience of working as Electrical and Instrumentation engineer. Apart from core instrumentation knowledge, candidate should be well verse in working with electrical system, power distribution, control circuits, selection of electrical accessories, Electrical job safety requirements, trouble shooting in electrical systems/ VFD/ Motors/ APFC/ PCC/ MCCs.

• To ensure statutory compliances of weighing balances, flow meters & Calibration master instruments.
• To ensure that measurement loops for identified critical parameters  in plant are calibrated against certified master calibrators, calibration traceable to international standards, in time as per  planned calibration schedule) to maintain proper quality records and history cards for Instruments of all the  plants.
• To conceptualize Instrumentation as per the process requirement for any new modification, expansion & new project at site.
• Analysis of maintenance history, cost incurred, Budget monitoring & breakdown to recommend & implement suitable activities to reduce cost & improve plant performance. Proper  documentation for preventive & breakdown maintenance, purchase requisitions, Budget planning etc.
• To ensure compliance to ISO 9000 / 2004  & EMS 14001 Standards in all activities related to Instrumentation on site. Ensure documentation & implementation of RC code 5,7 and 10 requirements in the Engineering department. Support for RC code 0 implementation in Engineering function.
• Implementation of ideas related to all plants suggested in Innovation & Creativity forum.            
• To carry out all Automation & Instrumentation activities as per BASF safety guidelines.
• To represent the Site for Automation Security function.
• To introduce new instrumentation controls for safe operations.
• To head the Instrument department for the site operation.
• To strive for energy conservation measures.
• To motivate & guide own Instrument staff & contract employees
• To ensure & carry out preventive & breakdown maintenance of Instruments in time, to minimize downtime of equipments.
• To prepare the opex budget for instrument function for whole site and ensure the expenditure within the limit.
• Responsible for maintaining Instruments like PLC system, SCADA system, EPSC system & various field Instruments.

3. Education & Qualification:

• University graduated / Diploma majored in Instrumentation engineering Or Electronics and communication engineering.
• Hands-on experience with instrumentation systems like PLC, SCADA would be an essential requirement.
• Hands-on experience with electrical power distribution systems would be added advantage.
• More than 7 – 12 years of working experience in chemical/petrochemical industries

  5.  Size of Impact:

  • This position is required to manage 4 permanent employees of BASF and 10 contract employees. .

   

  6.  Authority:

   

  • Authority to manage site instrumentation activities to agreed production target & no major non-compliance with automation security.
  • Authority to implement safety policy and make Instrumentation & Automation related procedure but these shall not be at odds with company policy.
  • Authority to issue permit as per PTW matrix
  • Authority to clear the payment bills related to Instrumentation & Automation for site activity as per authority matrix
  • Authority to sanction leave of employees directly reporting.
  • As and when required and entrusted as per deputy delegation.

   

  7.  Responsibility:

   

  • Site Instrumentation maintenance activities to achieve down time target of process plant & other Infra Area.
  • To work as SIS engineer for site & officer automation security for site.
  • Instrumentation related statutory compliance. Monitor PPE compliance within dept.& cont.
  • Monitoring & Controlling the budget of site Instrumentation & Automation
  • Implementation of BASF best practices, Good Engineering Standard & 5S on his own area & yellow card reporting & compliance for dept.
  • Responsibility as defined in the deputy delegation.
  • RC responsibility of Code0,3, 5,7 and 10 for engineering department.
