Research Manager, Biotechnology(007070)
- Technical support on reactor related (mainly stir tank) processes start-up, optimization, troubleshooting and debottlenecking.
- Driving innovation on the cutting-edge technologies of reaction engineering, especially bioprocess engineering.
- Be responsible for compliance with BASF EHS rules in your area of activity. Initiate and drive safety review of your experiments and ensure compliance in your activities according to defined measures.
- Act as reaction engineering expert to support our plants and business units in Asia Pacific for optimization, debottlenecking and troubleshooting of BASF processes, and with technical approaches including but not limiting root cause analysis, modeling, lab experiment, production implementation, etc.
- Define, initiate, and independently drive research projects to further improve our know-how in reaction engineering. Your expertise and results are expected to be highly relevant to BASF’s strategy, business and production.
- Strengthen and maintain the competency for Reaction Engineering Team.
- Join the expert network within BASF global research community, operational units, technologies, and scientific partners to maintain state-of-the-art expertise as well as monitor new practices and market trends.
Requirements:
- Education: Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, Biological engineering, or Environmental Engineering
- 3-5 industrial related working experience is necessary
- Education background is with chemical and process engineering, or other related engineering disciplines.
- Comprehensive and deep understanding of bioprocess engineering, fermentation processes, bioconversion processes, and enhanced transfer techniques.
- Demonstrated experience in Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and/or process modeling & simulation—particularly in reactor systems—is highly desirable.
- Programming proficiency with commercial software, like Matlab, gProms, python, or other equivalents are plus.
- Knowledge and experience in process scale up and development, or production processes, or complex technical reactor operation or sustainable solution are plus
- Language skills: English and Chinese are proficient
