Manager, Tax Operations(007157)

Tax Operations is the key interface with tax authorities, and the goal is to ensure efficient and effective handling of indirect taxes (e.g. VAT, property tax and etc.) operations in compliance with prevailing PRC tax laws and regulations in a sustainable manner.
• Lead Tax Operations platform team to manage daily tax compliance tasks of responsible entities
• Act as business partner to proactively support business operation/project and contribute value to long-term business strategy by delivering tailor-made advice and facilitating process implementation
• Develop and drive the continuous optimization in indirect tax operational processes for efficiency and excellence by leveraging innovative solution and cutting-edge technology
• Lead the clarification of tax regulatory requirements, tax processes/solutions design and implementation in GC during SAP upgrade project
• Build and maintain transparent and trusting relationship with tax authorities and related government authorities
• Build up a high-performance team with professional technical competency
• Perform professional and effective tax governance function on specific BASF legal entities not covered by BASF GC Finance platform
Main Tasks
• Lead, review and monitor tax filings, tax applications and tax accounting and reporting of legal entities in the scope of BASF China’s Finance platform, ensuring full compliance
• Provide proactive, tailor-made tax advice and value-adding guidance to support specific strategic Business/Functional units’ operations and projects, and partner closely with stakeholders to facilitate practical implementation of tax-related recommendations.
• Coordinate / lead the establishing and optimizing of operational processes to drive efficiency, accuracy and consistency in line with business needs
• Lead initiatives on innovative working solution and advanced technologies to drive digital transformation of tax services and manage the implementation within defined timeline
• Lead analysis of tax policy or regulatory reforms, evaluate potential impacts, and implement actionable solutions or new operational processes accordingly.
• Monitor specific tax matters (e.g. tax audits, inquiries) and support implementation of tax planning initiatives in cooperation with Corporate Tax Department
• Oversee communication with tax authorities for responsible legal entities, fostering transparent and trusted relationships with tax authorities and related government authorities
• Build, develop and motivate a high-performance team incl. team R&R, succession planning, talent development etc. to maintain strong technical expertise and deliver qualified services
• Organize and coordinate training as well as knowledge sharing to internal / external stakeholders to enhance awareness and competency of tax knowledge as well as relevant company policy
• Perform professional governance function on specific legal entities not covered by BASF GC Service Platform
• Accomplish other tasks assigned by the supervisor within agreed timeline and provide timely report to the supervisor or other related stakeholders
Remark: Depending on team and business needs, detailed main tasks could be possibly changed/expanded accordingly and assigned by the supervisor on a timely basis.
Job Requirements:
• Education: Bachelor’s degree or above from university, majoring in finance, accounting and taxation related
• Certificate: CPA or CTA required
• Working Experience: Over 8 years’ working experience with at least 5 years’ tax experience in multinational manufacturing company (experience in Big 4 and domestic leading firms preferred)
• Technical & Professional Knowledge:
o In-depth knowledge of PRC accounting and tax operation and practice
o Being familiar with ERP system and program (e.g. SAP), IT expertise and programming experience is plus
o Team-oriented and self-motivated, strong customer orientation and drive for innovation
o Strong logical analysis and organization skill, excellent communication, interpersonal and leadership skills
o Fluent in both verbal and written English
• Proficient MS Office skills for Excel, Word and PowerPoint
