Objectives of the Position:
Leading projects, specific topics, guiding and coaching team members to finish projects within the timeline. Responsible for projects output, lab EHS.

Main Tasks:
• Lead projects of battery binder development, especially cathode binder development using different polymer technologies including polyurethane, polyacrylate, polyimide, polyepoxy, etc. Foster collaboration with business/academic partners according to joint agreement.
• Lead projects of sustainable automotive coating development incl. low carbon footprint, low bake, low VOC formulation, etc.
• Understand resin structure (monomer composition, topological structure) impact on formulation performance, understand the synergistic effect between resin and other components, ability to propose effective resin modification strategy according to paint requirement.
• Able to come up with solutions of resin synthesis optimization. Understand and define characterization method for resin development and trouble shooting.
• Design entire process from experiment plan to analysis with suitable or customized model for data analysis. Provide technical insights to data scientist / scientific modelling and jointly establish proper model to characterize the underlying structure-property relationship.
• Lead technical discussion within regional/global technical community to come up with different technical approaches and prioritize according to probability of success.
• Able to perform risk assessment, periodical review for the project success and optimize scheduling/ resource allocation accordingly. Able to identify the potential changes of project scope, budget or timeline and adapt / adjust proactively.
• Act as technical consultant, supervise external testing institution and co-define required analysis methodology. Establish new test method to accelerate testing or correlate with film/line problems.
• EHS responsible and lab management


Minimum Education and Qualification Required for the Position:
• Education: chemistry related PhD
• Working Experience: >5 years lab experience including study period
• Technical & Professional Knowledge: Polymer background, prefer polymer chemistry direction. Experience in polymer/organic synthesis. Lithium-ion battery development related project experience gets the priority.
• Language level: English fluent speaking & writing
