=Objective of the Position=
This role will be given the responsibility from day one in a dynamic work environment with on-the-job training as part of a committed team. The position holder will join the international R&D team in Shanghai and contribute to BASF's expertise and innovation power in Asia-Pacific after starting his/her career in a one or two-year assignment as a lab leader at BASF in Germany.

=Main Tasks=
- Drive and coordinate R&D projects with support from the group leader.
- Responsible for the overall project management including project progress and fulfilment of milestones, documentation & project reports, alignments with project partners, transfer of results to customer lines, production feasibility assessment and project cost control.
- Focus on assigned market development and/or customer projects and initiates such activities within the framework of the BASF innovation process.
- Support the business teams with technical expertise on patent and regulatory issues and provides material/process technology evaluations for business case/business model development with guidance from the segment leader.
- Maintain an overview of the prevailing market trends, competitor activities and scientific developments pertaining to products/material and processing technologies from patents/literature/conferences for the assigned work scope.
- Organize the work plan with the lab team and coordinate all the lab activities.
- Lead the lab team functionally and, provide timely performance feedback with the guidance from the segment leader.
- Build a solid knowledge base including in the assigned working area, identify avenues to create IP for BASF and share know-how with relevant partners.
- Build network with relevant functions within the operating division and technical experts in BASF global competence centers through active exchange.
- Ensure the efficient operation of the lab and pilot facilities and initiate continuous operation improvement measures.
- Responsible for ensuring the occupational, health and environment safety during the day-to-day operation in compliance with BASF and local country regulations.
- Reviews the operation related risks regularly and initiates safety measures to mitigate the same.
- Compliance with the cost regulations and alignment with the segment leader.


Main Requirements:-
- Recently finished PhD or in the last stage of PhD program in Polymer Science, Chemistry, Polymer Engineering or Chemical Engineering.
- Technical and professional knowledge background in Polyurethane (PU) research is preferred.
- Project management, presentation, IT skills, patents, innovation and ideation processes skills are required.
- Value added for coordination, organization, and planning skills.
- Fluency in English & Chinese; German is a plus.
