Objectives of the Position

  • This Senior Manager, Head of Procurement Lauric Oils, Fatty Alcohols and Fatty Acids position, based in Kuala Lumpur, serves as a key leadership role responsible for leading the global procurement team and developing and executing the global procurement strategy for these categories.
  • The incumbent will manage the team, drive strategic negotiations, oversee supplier relationship management, advance sustainability initiatives, and promote continuous improvement across the categories within a complex, multinational business environment.

 

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute the overall procurement strategy for Laurics, Fatty Alcohols, and Fatty Acids and provide clear direction and vision for the global procurement team, ensuring alignment with business objectives and analyzing market dynamics
  • Set clear goals, monitor performance, and provide regular feedback to drive accountability and excellence within the team
  • Ensure procurement policies and processes are followed, ensuring compliance with internal standards, regulatory requirements, and ethical practices
  • Oversee risk management activities, including supplier risk assessments and mitigation strategies, to safeguard supply continuity and organizational reputation
  • Build and maintain strategic relationships with key suppliers on the level of key decision makers at suppliers, ensuring compliance with BASF’s Supplier Code of Conduct and Palm Sourcing Policy
  • Act as Global Category Manager for Fatty Alcohols and Fatty Acids, responsible for defining the guidelines for biddings and negotiations (RfX) for the respective category buyers and implementation and monitoring of contracts, also in the system.

 

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 10 years of sourcing experience in Oleochemicals or related industries
  • Strong negotiation skills, market analysis capabilities, and supplier relationship management
  • Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Business, or a related field
  • Proficiency in English
