Objectives of the Position
Our unit, Global Active Ingredients Technology II optimizes technologies as well as processes and implements production strategies for active ingredient manufacturing in the Agricultural Solutions division worldwide.
We focus on active ingredients which are tolled, the implementation of new active ingredient processes at tollers and ensure technology ownership, specifically in Asia.
Our technology labs are crucial in supporting the implementation of new active ingredients, troubleshooting and improvement of new as well as mature processes and LCM activities.
Areas of Responsibilities and Key Activities
General:
- Represent the technology interface between toller and BASF competence centers
- Lead and motivate a research team. Responsible for overall team performance. Support identification & hiring of bench chemists
- Support the implementation of products at tollers in India (route scouting, optimization, scale-up, technical packages & technology transfer)
- Meet timeline, quality, cost and capacity targets
- Ensure 'Technology Ownership' as well as BASF EHSQ standards
- Observe and evaluate competitor activities (products / patents / literature) and new scientific developments
Operational:
- Continuous Implementation, tracking, improvement of tolling processes
- Ensure process efficiency / reliability at and in close alignment with toller
- Evaluation and implementation of alternative chemistry, pathways or reagents
- Stay up to date with synthetic and process technology developments.
- Technology documentation and revision (Lab results, IP generation, Process Information Package, Management of Change)
Safety:
- Implement and ensure compliance with respect to labor, safety and environmental protection regulations (risk assessments, safety measures)
- Adherent to IT, Safety and Scientific/Regulatory compliances as per BASF policy
Leadership:
- Disciplinary management of assigned employees
- Employee development of individuals in team (identifying technical & non-technical training gaps, providing necessary trainings, know-how exchanges opportunities)
- Actively demonstrate commitment to BASF values, principles and to local and regional code of conduct.
Job Skills:
1. Technical Skills:
- Synthetic Chemistry: Strong understanding of synthetic organic chemistry principles, process design, and scale-up methodologies
- Analytical Chemistry: Familiarity with various analytical techniques used for characterization and quality control of AIs.
- Equipment and Technology: Understanding of relevant equipment and technologies used in AI production, including reactors, filtration systems, and drying technologies.
2. Management Skills:
- Project Management: Ability to effectively plan, manage, and execute technology transfer projects within budget and timelines.
- Communication: Excellent communication skills to clearly articulate technical details to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and address challenges that arise during the transfer process.
3. Additional Skills:
Data Analysis: Proficiency in data analysis and interpretation to monitor and evaluate process performance.
