Formula for Success
Join BASF’s Australian breeding team and play a key role in advancing canola genetics. As a Breeder, you will contribute to the design, analysis, and management of field trials, oversee seed distribution, and support quality testing and IP submissions. This is an exciting opportunity to work on innovative breeding solutions that drive sustainable agriculture.
You’ll:
- Design and analyse field trials; collect and collate trial data.
- Prepare reports and present findings to breeding and commercial teams.
- Coordinate hybrid field evaluation programs and seed distribution.
- Manage oil testing and ensure quality standards in collaboration with global teams.
- Conduct trials and compile data for Intellectual Property submissions.
- Ensure compliance with BASF safety and stewardship protocols.
- Actively participate in global and local breeding networks and contribute to R&D initiatives
Ingredients for Success
To thrive in this role, you’ll bring a blend of scientific expertise and practical problem-solving. A strong foundation in plant breeding or genetics, paired with hands-on experience in field trials, will set you up for success. You’ll need sharp analytical skills to interpret complex data, a collaborative mindset to work with global teams, and the adaptability to manage multiple priorities in dynamic environments.
You’ll have:
- Ph.D. or Master’s in Plant Breeding, Genetics, or Agricultural Science (or equivalent experience).
- Proven experience in plant breeding or agricultural research programs.
- Knowledge of genomic tools, and hybrid seed production.
- Ability to work in the field, travel to trial sites, and manage multiple priorities.
