Objectives of the Position
- Support BASF group companies to meet all legal and regulatory requirements related to trade compliance.
- Protect BASF’s license to operate by ensuring adherence to Import and export control, sanctions, and screening obligations.
Main Areas of Responsibilities and Key Activities
- Execute trade control related activities for BASF companies to ensure compliance. through SAP module
- Ensure timely review, update and continuous improvement of work documentation such as process descriptions, work instructions to maintain sustainable knowledge retention and process standardization within department.
- Support internal and external audits, including conducting Quality Checks to identify potential improvements and implement preventive measures
- Continuous improvement by leveraging digitalization tools, to enhance operational excellence and process efficiency.
- Execute assigned processes with a consistently high standard of service to effectively meet the growing demands of business operations across relevant regions.
- Effective communication with stakeholders as required in daily operation and timely escalation to leader on critical topics where relevant.
- Execute discussion independently within the team and collaborate for achievement.
Job Requirements (minimum requirement to carry out the work)
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in International Business, Law, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a related field.
- Background in Chemistry or related science is an added advantage for product-related compliance.
Working Experience
- Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in trade compliance, country regulations, product regulatory affairs, or product safety and stewardship related to trade compliance.
- Experience in regulatory or compliance functions, supply chain operations, or procurement activities within a multinational environment is preferred.
- Practical experience with import and export processes, including documentation and custom procedures, is an added advantage.
Technical & Professional Knowledge
- Basic knowledge of regulatory controls, import/export requirements, license/permit management, and trade compliance procedures and standards in Asia Pacific countries.
- Proficiency in MS Office application (Excel /Power Point essential)
- Experience with SAP systems in supporting compliance or logistics processes would be beneficial.
- Experience with digital tools and automation technologies (e.g., Excel automation using formulas, pivot table, basic macro) and data visualization tool (e.g., Power BI).
- Good analytical, problem-solving, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- High attention to detail, proactive mindset, and able to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
- Understanding global trade regulations (e.g. export control, sanctions, restricted party screening) would be an advantage.
- Fluent in English (both written and spoken)
