Objectives of the Position
Lead global operational vendor management for Maritime Carriers, Tank Container Operators (TCO), Flexitank, and Bulk Parcel categories. Deliver resilient, future ready maritime logistics that support BASF’s integrated supply chain through strategic partnership with regional and global logistics, procurement, and supply chain teams. Provide decisive executional leadership, elevate service provider management standards, and drive global collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement across countries and business units.
Job Responsibilities
- Regional & Global Steering
• Lead end-to-end operational vendor management for Maritime Carriers, TCOs, Flexitanks, and Bulk Parcel services across Asia Pacific
• Operationalize global liner contracts and ensure alignment with global logistics strategy.
• Drive contract execution excellence, including onboarding, governance, compliance, performance monitoring, and operational optimization.
• Act as regional focal point for global maritime crisis management, business continuity, and shipping initiatives.
- Service Excellence & Performance Management
• Implement and lead service management frameworks aligned with BASF global standards for cost, quality, and sustainability.
• Manage and analyze contracted carrier performance, KPIs, cost benchmarks, allocation fulfilment, and compliance.
• Act as the primary escalation contact for shipping operations — including freight carriers, TCOs, and Flexitank
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to resolve cross country service deviations and lead service recovery.
- Process Optimization & Innovation
• Lead regional and global structural and operational improvements across import/export and maritime processes
• Drive regional and global continuous improvement initiatives by analyzing trends, performance gaps and root causes to enhance reliability and cost-effectiveness.
• Develop SOPs that embed best practices, governance, and transparency across-country
Cross-Functional & Supplier Collaboration
- Lead regional risk assessment activities, contingency planning, and implementation of preventive and corrective measures.
- Strengthen collaboration across 3PLs and LLPs through regional and global alignment with logistics stakeholders, procurement, and business units to drive continuous innovation.
- Provide operational and cross‑functional support; perform other tasks as assigned to meet BASF objectives.
- Serve as backup for team members and line manager for service‑provider management and import‑export operations as required.
Requirements
Education
- Degree in Business Administration or equivalent, Logistics/Supply Chain/Business Management or related field
Working Experience
- Minimum 5-8 years in Logistics Operations, Logistics Service Provider management, Supply Chain Management. Working experience in the chemical industry preferred.
Technical & Professional Knowledge
- Expertise in Supply Chain Management, Operational Logistics and Import-Export processes, including Incoterms, regulations and non-conformance management.
- Good capability in written and verbal English.
- Intercultural competence, communication and language skills, proactive and solution-oriented with good issue-handling skills.
- Proficient in Business Intelligence Tools, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Knowledge of International Maritime Dangerous Goods (IMDG), International Air Transport Association (IATA), Supply Chain Processes, Transportation Management (Air, Maritime and surface) and international trade preferred.
- Experience in project management & SAP implementation preferred.
