Objectives of the Position
The APAC Procurement product team in the Procurement Product Family, provides digital and core SAP solutions to fulfil the requirements from BASF companies globally.
The main objectives of a Senior SAP Consultant / DevOps Engineer as the System/Solution Architect with advanced system knowledge & development skills, good knowledge and appreciation of business process, details understanding of cross functional relationship/impact and strategic overview of regional and local BASF needs. provide support towards issues/clarification and ensure that customer requirements are accepted, analyzed and described in an orderly fashion and will be responsible for modeling, advising and optimization regarding business processes in purchasing.
Main Tasks
- Responsible to address complex requirements and modular focus point to handle change request/project assigned.
- Responsible as module team lead/member for the roll-out implementation of global and regional projects, IS integration projects (M&A), enhancement and small local Projects for the Asia-Pacific Region.
- Responsible for core solution development and contribute to the knowledge documentation development.
- Participates in several concurrent projects, providing guidance to external and internal team members on BASF business processes and ensure the adherence to BASF SAP ERP prototype and system integrity, according to agreed deliverables and deadlines.
- Provides internal training and functional knowledge development to project team members. Ensure project analysts demonstrate the required SAP application and business process skills.
- Participates in regional and local specific application projects as modular Team Lead/Project Lead. Leading a team of internal and external consultants in the entire project life cycle implementation; from “As-Is” Analysis , requirements study, design “To-Be”, build, configure, test the SAP solution, train key users and perform application roll-outs across the BASF group of companies until post go-live support.
- As Solution Architect, ensure and reviews project deliverables and ensure quality. Supports in ensuring that all functional and technical knowledge is captured. Identify and manage gaps in the feasible design and coordinate with relevant stakeholders for solutioning and roll-out implementation.
- Execution of studies in the preliminary stage of projects including evaluation of purchased software
- Execute more complex prototyping/configuration and testing of new business solutions based on dedicated BASF business requirements while ensuring quality assurance
- Supports and/or steers the formulation of more complex cost estimates for solution design efforts and for all other relevant project phases as integral part of the project life cycle planning process
- Active participation in the innovation management and seeking improvement based on lessons learnt
- While performing studies and evaluations of purchased software, you will be responsible for designing and implementing prototypes in projects using new technologies such as S4/HANA, Fiori, API, ASAPIO, CPI and in a distributed system landscape (SAP UI5, cloud or mobile applications)
- Able to communicate complex contexts convincingly to the stakeholders within BASF and build stable relationships
- In the digitalization/innovation aspect, act as a Global / Regional representative of BASF Digital community, supporting BASF Digital roadmap, helping GDS to identify, execute and implement customer-centric digital solutions in an actionable and measurable way.
Requirements
Education
- Degree in Computer Science, informatics, business informatics or in a comparable field
Working Experience
- Minimum 6-8 years’ related working experience with complex SAP applications; knowledge of purchasing processes; financial invoice verification is a plus
Technical & Professional Knowledge (Mandatory)
- Strong knowledge and understanding in Material Management (compulsory) and integration with different modules i.e Sales & Distribution, Finance & Controlling
- Strong business and operational understanding of procurement process i.e contracts, request for quotation, scheduling agreements, purchase requisitions, purchase order, inbound delivery, goods receipt; and experience in intercompany processes aligned with SAP and business best practices
- Able to understand ABAP coding (debug skills)
- Experienced in SAP interfaces i.e iDoc, RFC, API, xml
- Excellent English communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills in an international team combined with a very high level of customer orientation
- Well-developed proactive and self-driven character
- High sense of responsibility to have conflict awareness and management skills
- Ability to convey information to both technical and non-technical audience
- Ability to efficiently multi-task and be self-motivated with initiative to seek for solution.
- Ability to lead and motivate a team of people, building team spirit and coach staff when appropriate. Clear understanding of the role of the project lead.
- Must be able to work with little or no supervision and be able to cope with events and accept responsibility.
- Ability to prioritise work based on business priorities, and to identify and resolve potential conflicts
Technical & Professional Knowledge (Additional)
- Skill and knowledge in Invoice Verification module within the SAP application
- Skill and knowledge in ABAP/ABAP Objects and other programming languages/technologies such as Java, SAP Web Dynpro, SA UI5 or Eclipse
- Familiar in data conversion tools and data conversion methodology
- Good knowledge in authorization objects, roles & profiles
- Experiencing Agile way of working or agile implementation approach
- Strong Digital mindset to accelerate BASF Digitalization transformation journey
