Objectives of the Position

 

​​​​​​​Lead and steer operations of import export and customs for scope countries of Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, Australia/ New Zealand

  • ​​​​​​​Steer and develop teams responsible for country operations
  • Drive service mindset for Door-to-Door Accountability through business engagement and extensive collaboration within country business and operations, regionally and globally
  • Lead GB overseas operational performance and tactical steering through disciplined license to operate, process excellence and transparency and continuous improvement and opportunity recommendations   
  • Responsible for service delivery management, service demand and structured escalation management.
  • Responsible to ensure knowledge retention and management within BASF to ensure business continuity and risk management of BASF global delivery services 

 

 

Main Areas of Responsibilities and Key Activities

 

  • Assume disciplinary (Malaysia) and operational leadership for import export and customs teams in ASEANA - Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, Australia/ New Zealand. This includes and not limited to team development, administration, operational cost measures, etc
  • Ensure high level operational discipline in meeting organizational targets and business requirements
  • Escalation point for import export operations to resolve key challenges and involvement in business impact changes relevant to the scope
  • Drive and promote continuous process and system enhancement, and ensure solution alignment with prevailing overall concepts, compliance requirements and quality management (periodic reviews, etc..) 
  • Facilitate the sharing and deployment of best practices to improve the cooperation and overall performance for import export, customs with local, regional & global teams.
  • Ensure effective coordination & collaboration with expert teams (SCNC, SCE…), GB operation units, country operations, logistics procurement, business units and relevant parties for process improvements and development of operational scope and tactic
  • Ensure knowledge retention of BASF overseas delivery services and customs, through effective knowledge retention and management and risk management / business continuity plan and measures  
  • Support senior projects (i.e. NGBA) and BASF projects / initiatives, relevant to import export and customs scope
  • Responsible for change management & joint coordination on regional process and guideline alignment between countries and hub operations 
  • Assumes back up responsibility for line manager, peer senior managers of import export and customs operations, and import-export customs leads in scope countries – where required and as aligned   

 

 

Requirements

 

Education

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree from accredited university
  • Major/minor in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Information Systems preferred.

 

Working Experience

  • 10-12 years in supply chain management roles, e.g. transportation, planning, customer service, customs and foreign trade.
  • Strong knowledge in trade regulations, customs duty and taxes added advantage
  • Have experience in managing trade and logistics in more than 1 ASEAN country preferred
  • Excellent knowledge in end-to-end supply chain process and concept of international trade preferred
  • Experience in strategic, tactical supply chain management – with proven achievement records

 

Technical & Professional Knowledge

  • Supply Chain certifications preferred, e.g. APICS, Lean Six Sigma
  • High proficiency in SAP (SD, TM, MM) and other ERP
  • Expert knowledge of master data, ERP to trade supply chain process
  • Proficient in English for multi country communication and strong business acumen in global economic and trade impact
