Objectives of the Position

 

The Manager, Learning & Development (Expert) will serve as the regional subject matter expert, bringing cutting-edge knowledge, best practices, and industry insights to position the Learning & Development function at the forefront of the industry. This role is pivotal in designing, driving, and implementing talent development strategies and initiatives across the region, ensuring alignment with business objectives and future growth.

 

 

Main Areas of Responsibilities and Key Activities

 

Subject Matter Expertise:

  • Develop, plan, and execute forward-looking talent development initiatives, strategies, and communication to accelerate learning & development topics to support the future-readiness of the organization.
  • Introduce and implement cutting-edge learning methodologies, technologies, and frameworks, ensuring alignment with global industry trends and organizational goals. Customize concepts and tools to the context of Asia-Pacific and develop the roll-out strategy in the region. Support key customers / L&D team to develop customized solutions on demand.
  • Foster innovation in learning programs by incorporating insights from external networks, thought leaders, and industry benchmarks.
  • Connect with the global & regional Talent Development Community to exchange and implement talent development best practices, concepts and tools in Asia-Pacific. Manage Global and Regional talent development projects where relevant. 
  • Provide expert insights and recommendations to improve L&D initiatives, leveraging best practices and industry trends.

 

Stakeholder Management:

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to internal customers, key partners, and the Learning & Development team.
  • Provide expert insights and recommendations to improve L&D initiatives, leveraging best practices and industry trends.
  • Act as an internal consultant, offering strategic guidance to business & senior leaders, HR business partners / Country HR Heads, and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Build strong, influential relationships with senior stakeholders to drive L&D initiatives, secure alignment, and acquire new partnerships / projects over time.
  • Influence key decision-makers through data-driven recommendations and professional engagement.

 

Program Ownership and Execution

  • Lead the design and implementation of talent development initiatives including high-impact leadership development programs, succession planning, talent development frameworks, and talent pools.
  • Own and continuously improve talent management frameworks, including succession planning and leadership development.
  • Ensure L&D initiatives are scalable, measurable, and tailored to regional and organizational needs.
  • Drive innovation and continuous improvement by analyzing program outcomes and adapting to emerging challenges.
  • Facilitate professional discussions, presentations, and workshops (where relevant) effectively with diverse audiences.
  • Where relevant, represent the L&D function in meetings with key stakeholders; demonstrating a high degree of professionalism and competence.

 

 

Requirements

 

Education

  • Bachelors degree in Social Sciences, Business, HR Management or related discipline 

 

Working Experience

  • Proven track record & exposure to talent management topics including but not limited to leadership development, succession planning, talent pipelining & acquisition, and business partnering. 
  • Strong ability to source, analyse, and apply external knowledge, future trends, and industry best practices.
  • Strong stakeholder relationship management and influencing skills, with experience engaging & influencing senior leaders, and navigating complex organizational structures. 

 

Technical & Professional Knowledge

  • Excellent verbal and written communication, facilitation and presentation skills. Fluency in the English language is required.
  • Customer-centric mindset with a commitment to delivering value to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Works independently and is consultative in approach; has a point of view but is open to others’ ideas; strong drive for results and collaborate with others to get things done
  • Exhibits drive to identify improvement areas and solutions to the problem through bringing in external perspectives and previous experiences; shows persistence and identify the best options to implement the changes even when there are obstacles
  • Demonstrates ability to pioneer new approaches in learning and talent development to meet evolving business needs.
  • Familiarity with regional business dynamics and global trends in Learning & Development.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, especially in Excel and PowerPoint
