About The Role

  • Provide support to all stake holders of BASF in India for the effective implementation of Organization, Occupational Safety, Environment protection & Transport Safety discipline initiatives to ensure safety of employees in work, prevention of incidents and continuous improvement in EHS performance of the organization
  • Support the organization in effective implementation of Occupational Safety, Environment Protection and Transport safety strategy, rules and regulation to ensure that national requirements, BASF strategies and requirements are fulfilled and high standard of EHS performance is achieved
  • Interpret, translate, and support the mandatory requirements in Occupational safety, Environmental protection, Transport safety and Organization disciplines.
  • Support the HUB and corporate EHS governance in effective implementation of new programs.
  • Follow up OS, EP and TDS targets and KPI to improve EHS performance of the organization.
  • Support the digitalization team in developing EHS tools and support implementation in India.
  • Conduct RCMS audits (internal and external)

 

How You Will Do It

Occupational Safety

  • Support the implementation of Organization, Occupational Safety, TDS and Environment protection program in India with collaboration with EHS HUB and corporate governance (COR)
  • Oversee safety related regulatory development in India and facilitate regulatory compliance at sites & companies by coordinating gap analysis and planning for compliance effort with stakeholders at sites.
  • Coordinate on incident reporting with stake holders, e.g. offices, sites, farms to ensure timely and 100% incident reporting.
  • Coordinate and support incident reporting and management process for all injury cases. Support root cause analysis whenever required. Monitor and follow up of incident flash compilation and distribution. Also coordinate the incident learning sharing between the sites
  • Participate in the incident investigation of high potential cases.
  • Support production/ construction sites in India to achieve green rating in the Global RC Audits
  • Conduct internal spot check audits for plants/facilities
  • Arrange and conduct pre-audits with project team, procurement and BU for the production / construction sites, ARS sites, Initiate and coordinate improvement measures with sites and project teams.
  • Conduct pre- assessments for toller selection
  • Carry out RCMS training for suppliers/tollers/customers as per the business requirement.
  • Carry out pre assessment of new offices or co sharing offices.
  • Deliver safety training to respective sites, offices as per requirements.
  • Assessment of logistics service providers (RSA and WSA) and closure of action items post-reviewing the implementation of these items.
  • Support ODs to understand and implement EHS regulations and BASF requirements with respect to Transportation and Distribution Safety of new and existing chemicals and products.
  • Track DG shipments by coordinating with sites and the Supply Chain Management (SCM) team.
  • Providing expert advice to 3rd party emergency response service providers and ODs to manage offsite TDS incidents and accidents
  • Coordinate with ICC for KPI reporting, Aditya Birla award nomination, RC logo recertification.
  • Participate and contribute to the regional and global Occupational Safety and Environment Protection meetings
  • Support in the compilation for Annual report and Business sustainability report
  • Support the team in effective implementation of Plastic Waste management rules.

 

Country Code Leadership

  • Act as Country RC Code Leader on Organization, Occupational Safety, Transport Safety, Environment Protection and General EHS topics (OS)
  • Provide advisory and consultancy services to the sites and interface with HUB.
  • Support country strategy in ensuring legal compliance, corporate conformance, and continuous improvement.
  • Provide On-demand services to Sites on Organization, Occupational Safety, Environment Protection and General EHS topics (OS)
  • Provides leadership and directions of RC code subjects.
  • Performs day-to-day consolidated functional RC code tasks.
  • Establishes and maintain country RC code requirements.

 

What We Look For

  • Education: bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering or master’s degree in science
  • Diploma in Safety would be an additional advantage.
  • Working Experience: At least 10~15 years working experience in production, engineering or EHS
  • English Proficiency: Level 3
  • Technical & Professional Knowledge:  Excellent communication and management skill, familiar with local legislation system and legal requirements in EHS. Must have good understanding of scope and function of EHS units.
