
Manager, Regional Technology, Industrial Gases(005232)
The position is embedded in the regional technology hub of the petrochemicals division in Asia. It supports or leads all topics related to Syngas and Industrial Gases technology within the team. This comprises, amongst others, supporting or leading of related investment projects for existing production, steering of OpEx measures, supervision of cost saving initiatives, technology benchmarking activities, and improvements in asset effectiveness and supporting the mega projects in the region.
Main Tasks
• Support of production sites as regional technology focal point for Syngas (SMR, POx) and Industrial Gases (ASU, H2).
• Support regional business management in case of Syngas or other industrial gases related technical questions.
• Interface between global technology & strategy, operations, and regional business management for Industrial Gases; preparation of BASF internal decisions and coordination of BASF internal approval processes, respectively.
• Perform technoeconomic evaluation of projects including debottlenecking of existing plants, potential new sites and potential new technologies to support the strategy of CP in Asia
• Lead or support global technology & strategy or regional business management in technology and manufacturing cost benchmarking studies.
• Support process safety and product safety related topics including topics on regulatory affairs for Syngas and Industrial Gases technologies in Asia
• Support and drive Operational Excellence of all Syngas production plants in Asia, including initiating and managing R&D projects with internal or external research groups.
• Support and drive the implementation of digitalization plans according to CP priority for the Syngas assets in Asia
• Support and drive sustainability topics in collaboration with the regional and global units, including evaluation and calculation of product carbon footprint and alternative feedstock assessment.

Job Requirements:
• Education: Bachelor of Science (or higher) in Chemical Engineering or Chemistry
• Working Experience: At least 6 years in-depth technical manufacturing or research know-how and problem solving; solid experience in project management of investment projects
• Technical & professional knowledge: good knowledge on Syngas and Industrial Gas production (SMR, POx, ASU, …)
• Good communication and interpersonal skills; fluent in English
• Strong engineering, project management, costing and scheduling skills.
• Good knowledge on manufacturing and engineering design procedures
• Good knowledge on manufacturing costs evaluations
• Good knowledge on computer skills and plant process control tools
