Objective of the position:

  • To assist the Research Scientist in planning and smooth implementation Advanced Testing and Microplot (ATMP) activities to aid in the discovery and development of insecticide compounds in the early/advanced phases by providing reliable and consistent bio-efficacy data.

 

Main Areas of Responsibilities:

  • Assist in conducting Advanced Testing and Microplot operations to generate bio-efficacy data for early phase and advanced insecticide compounds based on agreed timelines: (a) laboratory assays which include bio-efficacy, residual study, resistance study, dose-response, systemicity, synergism, spectrum, oviposition and other behavioral studies; (b) field microplot, field-to-lab and screenhouse trials; and (3) other studies as requested by the Global Insecticide Research.
  • Assist in handling Advanced Testing and Microplot results generated from the laboratory and screenhouse trials, ensuring all data are accurately encoded in e-worksheets and available for timely reporting to requesting chemists/biologists
  • Work closely with other functional teams such as Host Plant Propagation, Insect Propagation and Farm Operations to ensure adequate and steady supply of test materials and smooth coordination of microplot trials preparations.
  • Ensure that research reports and other ATMP working files are always updated and submitted to the line manager based on the agreed timeline.
  • Support the maintenance of good housekeeping of testing laboratory and other designated areas being used by ATMP operations ensuring cleanliness and orderliness in the workplace and proper implementation of BASF safety, health and environment policies and procedures.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Graduate of Bachelor of Science in Agriculture preferably major in Entomology. Licensed Agriculturist is an advantage.
  • With at least 1-2 years of relevant work experience in crop protection research. Experience in multi-national companies or large local companies is preferred. New graduates maybe considered.
  • Knowledgeable of tropical insect and mite pests and host plants
  • Possess working knowledge of basic laboratory equipment, e.g. pipette, fume hood, microscope and weighing balance.
  • Can conduct laboratory assays/screenhouse trials on insecticides.
  • With good analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Possess good organizational skills, a proactive mindset, and ability to multitask and prioritize work.
  • Express self well in English both orally and in writing.
  • Proficient in Windows and MS Office Applications.
  • Demonstrate leadership, professionalism, and integrity at work.
  • Proactive, can work independently and in teams.
  • Willing to work on a fixed-term contract.
