About The Role
As a Portfolio Manager, you will be responsible for the ongoing commercial performance of the BASF Agricultural Solutions portfolio in New Zealand, with accountability for revenue, profitability, cash contribution, and market share. You will drive the long‑term portfolio strategy while leading the development and execution of near‑term marketing initiatives to support business growth.
In this role, you will manage all marketing aspects of the crop protection portfolio, including strategy, pricing, forecasting, promotion, and new product launches. Working closely with sales, technical, regulatory, R&D, and regional teams, you will translate market insights and customer needs into actionable strategies, represent BASF at customer and industry events, and contribute to global and regional projects that support the New Zealand business.
How You Will Do It
- Own the commercial performance of the BASF New Zealand portfolio, managing strategy, pricing, forecasting, promotion, and lifecycle planning to deliver revenue, profit, and market share targets.
- Develop and execute short to long‑term portfolio strategies based on market insight, customer needs, competitive dynamics, and business priorities.
- Identify and pursue new growth opportunities, translating insights into actionable plans that drive sales and portfolio value.
- Lead new product launches in collaboration with sales, technical, regulatory, R&D, and regional teams to ensure successful market entry and adoption.
- Represent BASF at customer and industry events, supporting stakeholder engagement and sharing market intelligence and best practices.
- Contribute to regional and global projects while maintaining regular communication with internal teams to align on demand planning, performance reviews, and strategic initiatives.
What We Look For
To be successful in this role, you will bring strong commercial and analytical experience within portfolio management, supported by a background in agriculture, chemicals, or related industries. You are comfortable working closely with sales teams, analysing market and sales data, and translating insights into pricing, forecasting, and portfolio decisions.
You will:
- Have 5–8 years of relevant experience in portfolio management, marketing, sales support, or commercial roles, ideally within agriculture, crop protection, or chemical‑based industries.
- Demonstrate strong analytical capability, including market analysis, sales analysis, forecasting, and pricing analysis.
- Be commercially minded, with the ability to interpret data and market insights to support portfolio strategy and business decisions.
- Work effectively with sales teams, bringing strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Be well organised and detail‑focused, able to manage multiple priorities and deliver outcomes.
- Possess solid Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
- Hold a current driver’s licence and be comfortable with local travel as required.
