About the Role
Reporting to Business Management Asia Pacific, you will:
- Lead the Butanediol (BDO), N-Methylpyrrolidone (NMP) and Tetrahydrofuran (THF) product lines in Asia Pacific, including strategic positioning, product growth and profitability, transformation toward suitable offerings, innovation, marketing, and technical support.
- Drive sales and cCM1 to achieve budgeted targets for the product groups, manage fixed costs, and continuously optimize the supply chain setup according to market requirements.
How You Will Do It
SBU & Product Strategy
- Implement SBU strategy through developing and executing appropriate product strategy
- Communicate the product strategy and key measures to the sub regions / countries. Provide product and application communication tools where needed
- Maintain Price and Margin Management (PMM) system with target/limit prices and manage pricing exceptions in discussion with the countries
- Implement the sustainability roadmap and lead the transformation toward a sustainable product portfolio
Portfolio Management (THF/NMP/BDO):
- Joint Venture plant (THF) — coordinate with the JV (TBPR) production site for appropriate product allocation and support according to market needs in Asia
- Coordinate with NMP and BDO assets in Lu/NA to influence allocation and support. Manage and coordinate Asian shore tanks to ensure sustainable supply to Asian customers
- Develop the NMP battery-grade market and BASF product offering
- Coordinate with the OMP asset (BACH) on THF allocation and logistics setup
- Coordinate with the global product management community on global material flows and develop landed-cost comparisons for products from EU and NA
- Determine the regional sales budget by product in consensus with country team
Pricing Management and Planning:
- Maintain PMM system with target/limit prices and manage pricing exceptions in discussion with the countries
- Develop the communication packages for sales teams on price negotiations with customers Provide input on service levels and related supply chain requirements for product group. Manage inventory levels in cooperation with countries and supply chain, actively review cost to serve and working capital
- Provide accurate monthly forecasts for production planning and controlling
Market intelligence:
- Actively build on existing market intelligence and monitor changes in market dynamics
- Provide product and market intelligence to countries
- Extract relevant market information from sales force and foster exchange within the global team
- Regularly work with production and technology to develop and update cost benchmarks
- Maintain regular exchange with key customers on market development and growth opportunities
Innovation:
- Drive development towards a carbon-neutral product portfolio; identify and advance new applications and ideas to fill the innovation pipeline
- Analyze market data related to these new applications and ideas
Others:
- Report monthly on markets, utilization, sales, margin results, and outlook
What We Look For
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in business or chemistry/ chemical engineering
- Min 3-5years’ relevant technical and or commercial experience. Experience in chemical commodities marketing is a plus
- Fluent in English and at least one other Asian language
