Objectives of the Position

  • This role serves as the sales or local key account manager responsible for implementing the Value Chain hunting strategy, engaging with the VN team to identify potential polyurethane (PU) Footwear projects and secure new approvals. It involves establishing relationships with key shoe factories including Taiwanese, Korean and Chinese transplants (TTT/KTT/CTT) and acting as the local contact in VN to drive the PU business growth alongside the global and regional PU key account team. 
  • Manage existing sales and develop new business opportunities in the Footwear segments of the Polyurethane (PU) business in Vietnam. 
  • Develop & execute sales activities to achieve mid/long-term targets in alignment with SBU strategy. 
  • Provides preliminary technical support, troubleshooting, and identify new application for existing product lines for both existing and new customers. 

 

MAIN AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY ACTIVITIES

 

Business/Sales Development:

  1. Contribute to profitable growth of Footwear PU business in Vietnam via direct account management 
  2. Develop sales strategy in alignment with business direction and actively hunt new customers 
  3. Plan, organize and manage sales activities related to Footwear segments 
  4. Promote new products and applications to existing or potential customers, drive new business acquisition 
  5. Organize events (Seminar/Tech Day/Workshop) for strategic customers to gain business opportunities. 
  6. Define & implement local pricing strategy to reach optimal profitability. 
  7. Establish relationships with key stakeholders of strategic customers. 
  8. Ensure customers’ credit management is aligned to company's guidelines and risk management. 
  9. Organise visits from RBU colleagues to drive business growth. 
  10. Provide ad hoc and regular management reporting timely. 
  11. Drive commercialization of projects and document through Sales Force. 
  12. Support customers’ sustainability initiatives with our portfolio of solutions. 

 

Market and Competitor Intelligence:

  1. Have in-depth understanding of footwear market and customer needs, industry drivers, unique selling points to recommend the best solution(s), leading to the achievement of value creation for the customers and BASF. 
  2. Identify and develop new market potential for new applications across product portfolio in coordination with RBU. 
  3. Conduct studies on market dynamics, industry trends, competitors, products, applications, and technology. 
  4. Establish database for target market segment, customer, and applications. 

 

Technical service:

  1.  Provide preliminary troubleshooting to support customer, while escalating to Technical Development (TD) team any persisting or more complicated technical issues. 
  2. Follow-up business development of new customers, applications and relevant processing technologies. 
  3. Provide necessary technical training/workshop/exchange with customer along with Technical Development team. 

 

Job Requirement

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering/Science/Chemical/Chemistry/Materials/Polymer 
  • Min 5 years as Technical Sales or Technical Service preferably in the PU and chemical industries. 
  • Chinese speaking is required. 
  • In depth knowledge of PU products and applications 
  • Understanding of key industries (e.g. footwear)
